Pakistan and Korea to increase defence cooperation

Pakistan and Korea have great potential and the two countries can come together to collaborate in the field of Defence Production. These views were expressed by Kim Chul-Su, Director General, Defence Promotion Bureau who called on Secretary Defence Production Lieutenant General Shahid Iqbal (Retd) at the Ministry of Defence Production on Tuesday. Secretary Defence Production highlighted the need to identify areas of co-operation, which can help strengthen bilateral ties between Republic of Korea and Pakistan. He added that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Korea and is keen to take bilateral relations to new heights. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the progressing ties between the two countries. Secretary Defence Production thanked the Korean Delegates and termed the meeting fruitful, identifying avenues of future co-operation between the two countries.-PR Copyright Business Recorder, 2013

Pakistan, Korea discuss regional security

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Korea Defence Industries and Logistic Joint Committee meeting on Wednesday discussed military capacity building, defence industrial potential and regional security.



Additional Secretary Ministry Defence Production Maj-Gen Tariq Rashid Khan and Director General, Defence Promotion Bureau Kim Hul-Su led the respective sides during the meeting held here at the Ministry of Defence Production.



The meeting discussed wide agenda points related to Defence Productions Establishments of two countries including variety of defence related subjects through formal presentations and discussions.



Korea and Pakistan have been collaborating in the past. Korea has provided assistance to Pakistan in various fields of defence production. Both sides exhibited strong desire and will continue engagements and endeavour to cooperate and assist each other in related fields of military cooperation.



Additional Secretary Ministry Defence Production thanked the Korean side for their continued support. The director general Defence Production Bureau Korea also thanked the additional secretary Defence Production for warm hospitality and organising a detailed visit to Pakistan defence production establishments. The visit helped in gaining insight into the defence industry of Pakistan.

I don't think India has defense relationship with Iran. Israel is a major defense supplier. Pakistan is further alienating itself by associating with North Korea.

What association?
The last government "contact" was in 2000..
further contacts were solely the endeavors of AQ Khan Laboratories which also ceased around 2005.
Pakistan and South Korea already do have good contacts from previous times.
Including training of military personnel in South Korean facilities.
