Rawalpindi, October 22: Pakistan and Italy signed Military Cooperation Plan (MCP) for the year 2009 on the occasion of 5th Pakistan – Italy Staff Talks today at Joint Staff Headquarters Chaklala. A special signing ceremony was held wherein Director General Foreign Military Cooperation, Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan and Rear Admiral Vanni Nozzoli, Deputy Head of the 3rd Division of the Defence General Staff Italy signed the Military Cooperation Plan (MCP – 2009) on behalf of their respective countries.
Both sides agreed to further enhance the ongoing military cooperation in the field of training and exchange of expertise for the mutual benefit of the two Armed Forces.
During the Staff Talks, both sides were forthcoming in extending cooperation in specific areas of interest and had unanimity of views on challenges confronting the two nations.

Much of the same US equipment like APCs and missiles that Pakistan uses are also or were in service with Italy.

They have used licence manufacture of such equipment to build their own designs to their specific requirments so any cooperation with them is a good thing.

It was 6 put aside for possible resale.

This was mentioned in the AFM issue with the interview with Tanvir Mahmood in the Farnborough air show section under a news article about the Italians ordering newer CH47Fs.

I quoted it word for word in the thread about the interview.

I hope they take our partnership serious and I hope we can come up with some serious cash in the future because they have some serious goodies in Italy that would not be subjected to American veto power. Italy takes absolutely zero orders when it comes to defense from the US or elsewhere. The same can not be said about the rest of Europe.

what type of defence equipment pakistan will be interested in italian sea mines are best in the world and very intelligent. i hope we should get them too.

What about going directly to the source for Mangusta? Also a few P.180 Avanti would not be bad for special operations and they excel in small arms manufacturing.

Some of the new transport helicopters the Italians are using are pretty good in particular the AW109 and AW139 the latter being in the same league as Hueys and looks a cheaper option than Eurocopters NH90

^^^lets not get ahead of ourselves here - a lot of italian stuff like the armed helicopter will require uncle sam's approval prior to sales to any country. eg: the power-plant is licenced from US.
