There Should Exist Cooperation In The Fields Of Defence Production Between Pakistan And Italy: Rana Tanveer Hussain

Islamabad–04 May, 2016

Pakistan and Italy on Wednesday decided to enhance defence cooperation. This understanding reached during a meeting Mr. Stefano Pontecorvo, Ambassador of Italy and Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of Defence Production (MoDP). They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and enhancing cooperation in defence production.

The minister, while speaking about Pakistan’s admittance into the aeronautic market with introduction of JF-17 Thunder, said that Pakistan’s defence production is matching international quality. He explained, “There should exist cooperation in the fields of defence production between the two countries”. He urged the need of further strengthening the cooperation.

Such cooperation is not new, in 2013Pakistan and Italy signed a Strategic Engagement Plan (SEP) under which the two countries committed to increase bilateral cooperation particularly in the fields of defence and security.

No doubt. Vixen AESA it seems it will be. This is a good development. Ditch the expensive F-16 deal and heavily upgrade the JF-17 capabilities. Negotiate for some ToT in the process. This should have been done long ago. Better late than never.

The Raven ES-05 is an evolution of the fire control radars of the Raven family (500E and 1000E), manufactured by Selex Galileo. Selex Galileo has the unique distinction of not only creating an array of fire control AESA radars (the Vixen E family) but also a number of AESA surveillance radars (the Seaspray E family).

The Raven ES-05 radar uses about one thousand TRMs capable of generating high-power radar beams. The radar also generates a wide array of wave and processing regimes, capable of implementing a set of air-to-air seek while tracking, combat, air-to-ground and air-to-sea modes.

Chinese AESA radar is better than Vixen 1000E and on par with Raven ES-05 so if Selex is offering us Vixen 1000E only then we would go for the Chinese AESA radar.

there is no foreign minister so forget about any thing regarding foreign office and diplomacy . Our foreign office was not able to expose Indian terrorism in Baluchistan with there naval spy already caught. But Pak forces are working on it to make the defense more deterrent and advance.

Pakistan dont need Western system Pakistan should develop a Hypersonic Cruise missile along with HQ9 & Pantsir S1 are enough to counter S400 .UCAV could also be used
