Pakistan and Indonesia have signed defence trade and industry agreements with Saudi Arabia; arrangements that highlight strengthening defence partnerships between predominantly Muslim nations.
A defence accord between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia was signed in Islamabad on 20 January, while a similar agreement between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia was signed in Jakarta two days later.
A statement by the Pakistani government said that under its agreement with Saudi Arabia the two countries will establish a joint military co-operation committee. It did not outline the responsibilities of the committee but local news reports said they include exploration of possible defence trade and industrial co-operation.
