PTI Lucknow, January 26, 2015 | UPDATED 16:40 IST

A Pakistan Air Force aircraft, with five military personnel on board, was allowed to land at the airport here for refuelling last afternoon, official sources said on Monday.

The aircraft, which had taken off from Rawalpindi, was allowed by the Indian Air Force to land at the Chowdhury Charan Singh Airport here for refuelling, they said, adding that it took off for the Bangladesh port city of Chittagong after about 50 minutes.

"There was no emergency. There was a Pakistani aircraft movement, that is PAAF-854 from Rawalpindi to Lucknow (which) landed at 1201 hours yesterday and departed for Chittagong at 1252 hours," District Magistrate Rajshekhar said when asked about the landing.

He said the Indian Air Force had cleared it for landing as it was a Pakistan Air force flight.

To questions, Airport Director S C Hota told PTI said it was a "technical landing" and added that soon after refuelling, the plane left for its final destination at the major port city of Bangladesh.

He said there were five military personnel on board the flight. However, the type of the aircraft or what it was carrying could not be ascertained.

o_O
Is it normal routine? I mean koi Samjhota type thingy?

It's a normal thing. Happened many times. And it is not the Indian Air Force that "allows" to land. It will be civil authorities which issue clearance weeks before after consulting air force. Media these days!

Well.....it's complicated :suicide:

Civil authorities will give clearance to an air force jet?? :what:

Its not a normal thing to happen.

Did the aircraft :

1. Change its flight path which upset his fuel calculations.
2. Spring a leak
3. Miscalculate the fuel requirement from Pindi to Chittagong
4. Pick up / drop someone at Lko

More to it than meets the eye.

Nope its not normal thing, it was a PAF plane. The plane require MoD, MoIA clearance before getting clearance to enter Indian airspace.

Very unusual, that how the India allowed to travel PAF plane to LKO, and even not scrambled jets.

Yes. Many times it has happened although with transport aircraft mostly. Earlier even fighter jets of PAF use to make refueling stops. I don't think it is in practice any more. Don't blow it out of proportion. They make these arrangements on official level. Pay for fuel and facilities they use and that's it. You see anything wrong with it? Come on now!

No, in India the Air Force has to clear every single flight in Indian airspace, whilst the plane would be controlled by civil air controllers to be allowed to fly in Indian airspace every flight has to submit a flight plan to the IAF in advance and without IAF permission no plane is allowed access to Indian airspace.
