Breaking: While FO rejected Afghan government statement against fencing of 2500km #Pak- #Afghan border, Pak Army Spokesperson Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar confirms today, “ 1700km fencing is completed, project will b completed by end of 2021, fencing at 11000ft high peaks is going on”.

Pakistan Says Erected First Part Of Afghan Border Fence

Pakistan is fencing part of the border to prevent militants from crossing (epa) May 10, 2007 -- Pakistan says it has erected what it calls the first section of a security fence on the Afghan border.

Military spokesperson Major General Waheed Arshad said 20 kilometers of fencing in North Waziristan's Lwara Mundi area had been completed.

Islamabad has said it plans to erect a fence along 35 kilometers of its porous 2,500 kilometer border to prevent Taliban militants from crossing between the two countries.

In April, Afghan and Pakistani troops clashed in a border area when Afghan troops tore down part of the fence being erected there.

Afghanistan, which has never recognized the border, opposes the fence.

It started in 2007 and is being constructed in phases. The date you've quoted is another phase.

We are talking of fencing and it started in June 2017 . The one u are mentioning were talked but no progress was made on fencing and was delayed as we were busy in internal operations . Kindly before replying always fact check and get details before rejection . No fencing was done before 2017 . Torkham gate was inaugurated in 2016 and Chaman gate in 2001 but that was not fencing . Those were border management steps at border crossings . Fencing project was started , announced , approved , progressed with the help of ALLAH ( GOD ) from June 2017 to check unfrequented movements of terrorists , smugglers e.t.c .

it was delayed then because of internal security operations . We are talking about Pratical steps , approval and Progress . This time its a big and real project .

I also had pictures/videos of my father's parent unit in waziristan but I lost the cd somewhere. I once posted them on old pdf around 2012-2013. My father retired decades ago but we were given memorabilia in a reunion once the unit came back from rotation.
