Pakistan Afghanistan border fence update

building walls and hiding has not proved very successful in the past. History: Romans lost. Chinese were conquered.

paid soldiers are only a viable option when the gov't has wealth to steal from free people. What will the soldiers be paid when the currencies and economies go pop?
Afghans fight for something other than money
US citizens will also fight for something other than money.

This wall is a reminder to you and Afghans that this is Pakistani territory. More than security it serves as a symbol and a stark daily reminder to US/NATO, India and Afghanistan. If your Afghan brothers think that this Pakistani territory belongs to them they are free to remove the fence. Just one side note. We will obliterate Kabul.

The PA needs Normandy style Pillboxes and affordable remote weapons systems, so that our troops are properly protected in the event of a large scale attack. They can not be assured of rapid air support in the minutes it would take to destroy the current kind of bases with large mortars or well aimed rockets.

The cost will be high up front but will save in man power, air support, and most importantly lives.

Something like the following; but with movable bullet proof panels and movable remote weapons systems would be ideal. Obviously, the budget will have to be considered. But in the long run, a more permanent structure along the most dangerous sectors should be built in the event it looks like hostilities will be sustained.

currently, I assume they are holding out hope the Afghan peace process leads to a quieter border. Hopefully this becomes a reality, and there won’t be a need for even the fence.

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Saturday informed the National Assembly that work on fencing of border with Afghanistan would be completed by the end of this month.

Taking part in a budget discussion in the House, the minister said 88 per cent work had been done so far and the rest would be completed by June 30.

Alluding towards the situation in Afghanistan in the context of US troop pullout, Mr Rashid noted that next two to three months were very important for Pakistan also. “Right now infighting is going on at some 38 locations in Afghanistan,” he said, explaining that as many as 2,400 Afghan personnel had joined the ranks of Taliban.

Once it is completed, time to send the Afghan refugees home and let them work out what kind of future they want for their country. One, where they look to rebuild their country, or engage in another civil war.
