If you listen to the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s opening remarks from the Pak-U.S. strategic dialogue, he clearly acknowledges Pakistan as a friend while highlighting Pakistan’s sacrifices and efforts in the region. He also highlights some of the challenges Pakistan continues to face in the form of terrorism.

The whole point of this strategic dialogue is to build on our improving relationship, and at the same time, address our shared concerns in regards to our shared goals. We hope to prevent any issues from arising through these regular meetings. The notion that one is ‘dictating’ another is simply not true, and the U.S. and Pakistan are two independent nations that greatly value each other’s assistance. In fact, General Lloyd J Austin, Commander United States Central Command also met with the COAS Gen. Raheel Sharif yesterday and appreciated Pakistan military’s efforts in stabilizing the region.

Relax guys. Strategic dialogue is something else and is very important engagement in the long term. Relationship with US is an important one and needs to be developed further especially in economic, educational and human resource development. This dialogue is not about exchanging demand lists nor it should be. This is about reviewing progress and how to take it from here in future. This is where two parties can explain their position to each other and work their way out of issues through discussions.

Those of you who just want to break it off and get into some kind of divorce, please use your minds. This would be the path Saddam Hussain walked and result is for all to see. No engagement is disastrous and is devoid of any wisdom in today's world. It is in our benefit to remain engaged with all world powers to protect our national interests. Unless you think becoming North Korea is an excellent idea!

Dude, for the first half Kerry was giving Pakistan sharmeen obaid-chinoy oscar lollipop followed by women right lecture and other BS. Someone in the state dept needs to tell him, this is not what strategic dialogue means. He needs to talk about Kashmir, F-16s and $$$.

Pakistan is US oldest on and off "strategic partner", there is no need for this bureaucratic BS that you are talking about. Stick to the point and be clear about each other expectations. US is 16.7 trillion dollar economy. That's 80x Pakistan's economy. Tell Kerry straightforward, you need money for energy crisis and weapons to secure your both borders.

Doesn't look very meaty dialogue. At best they will offer some assistance for women development and ask for nuclear roll back. The real purpose of this dialogue is pressure Pakistan for nuclear roll back. Pakistan will not accept that and both parties will depart happy chappy to their homes without achieving anything.

We should discuss why Americans are pulling out their investments from Pakistan while countries like China are heavily investing in Pakistan..?????

2nd.. we need US help in education and tech... weapons should not be our priory. we can get that from China with little cost and no strings attached...

3rd, we should discuss US support for our entry in NSG..
