WASHINGTON: A day after a mob killed three Ahmadis in Gujranwala, the US State Department pointed out that Pakistan’s constitution and laws restrict religious freedom and prohibited Ahmadis from practising their faith.

“Although the constitution declares that adequate provisions shall be made for all citizens to profess and practise their religious beliefs freely, other constitutional provisions and laws impose limits on this right,” notes the department’s annual report on international religious freedom.

The report, released on Monday also notes that according to the constitution and penal code, “Ahmadis are not Muslims and are prohibited from calling themselves Muslims or their belief Islam, as well as from preaching or propagating their religious beliefs, proselytising, or insulting the religious feelings of Muslims.”

The report, which is sent to the US Congress as an official document, points out that punishment for violation of these provisions is imprisonment for up to three years and a fine.

Is Gujranwala in US? If no than what is US business in what happens in Gujranwala. If it is that much concerned about Human rights, than first protect those of Palestine of at the very least stop blocking every move the rest of the world does against Israel.

Muslims in the US are considered enemies of the state by the intelligence agencies, law enforcement, and other security outfits like airport security. They are spied upon in their mosques, homes and public places, harassed with hostile speech on the streets by ordinary citizens, on their jobs and pretty much anywhere they go, they live under constant fear of hate attacks from islamophabe extremists, they are discriminated against in the public sphere where they are considered guilty of something just because they are muslims and the courts do not give justice to them either when they are attacked. The rights in the constitution are for everyone except muslims in the US. Im impressed by their resilience to such hostility. Muslims should have left the US a long time ago.
