Pak journalist wins Yale award
WASHINGTON: Paksitani journalist Imtiaz Ali is among 18 Yale World Fellows 2008 announced on Friday. Ali, of Geo Television, who also files for the Washington Post, has been reporting on the Taliban, Al Qaeda and extremism in the tribal region along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the NWFP. Imtiaz Alis dangerous work brings to light events unfolding on the frontline of the war on terror, the citation says.
The Yale World Fellows Programme aims to build a worldwide network of emerging leaders and to broaden international understanding. Every year, the programme selects 18 highly accomplished early to mid-career men and women from government, business, the media and civil society organisations representing countries across the globe for a four-month leadership program at Yale University.
