Pak-India cricket series: Shiv Sena vows protests at matches

NEW DELHI: India’s right wing party Shiv Sena announced that they will organize protests at all venues where the India-Pakistan cricket series is to be hosted, reported CNN-IBN.
The series, which heralds a revival for international cricket in Pakistan, was approved by India earlier this year.
Soon after news of the series broke, Shiv Sena announced it would not let Pakistan play in India.
The party had said that Pakistan is responsible for the 2008 Mumbai carnage and it would not be allowed to play in the country.
In October, India’s cricket board secured government clearance to host Pakistan for a short tour in December.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited Pakistan to play three one-dayers and two Twenty20 matches in December-January, the first bilateral contests between the arch-rivals in five years.
The rivals have not played a series since Pakistan’s tour of India in 2007, after cricket ties were snapped following the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai.
The Indian and Pakistani cricket teams have only met in international tournaments since 2007.

I support Shiv Sena.

Mumbai has seen such a big terror attack. How we can we play sports when the enemy refuses to book the culprits ?

It will be difficult for Shiv Sena to prevent matches in other parts of the country but I am sure they will not allow any enemy to step on Mumbai soil in the name of sports.

I see where the SS are coming from, the scares of 26/11 and before must lie deep and of course haven't healed yet. Can you imagine the US playing some sort of sport fixture with Afghanistan a few years after 9/11??!! The fact that the state of Paksitan continues to harbour the wrong-doers just rubs salt into the wounds.



Having said that the SS can say all they like, if the GoI have said these fixtures are taking place they will happen albeit under immense security.
