Pak handlers instructed terrorists on phone

The two terrorists who put Srinagar through a 22-hour encounter that ended last Thursday were guided, step by step, on the phone by Pakistani handlers.

Here are excerpts of the cell phone conversation intercepted by Indian intelligence agencies;

Conversation I

Chief: Salaam Aalekum

Terrorist: Walekum-as-salaam.

Chief: Farhat Saifi yaad kar raha hoon; Sab khairiyat hai? (This is Farhat Saifi. Is everything fine?)

Terrorist: Shukr hai Allah ka. (All is well by the grace of God)

Chief: Qaari Saheb bhi theek hain ? (Is Qaari Saheb doing fine?)

Terrorist: Haan..Jee..Zabardast hain. (Yes, very well.)

Chief: Toh kya position hai..is waqt fire ho raha hai ya khamoshi hai? (What's the position now? Is firing still on or is it calm?)

Terrorist: Firing chal raha hai. (Firing is still on)

Chief: Achcha yeh bataayein..yeh jo hotel hai, kitne manzil ka hai? (How many floors does this hotel have?)

Terrorist: Restaurant (You mean restaurant?)

Chief: Restaurant kitne manzil ka kai? (How many floors does this restaurant have?

Terrorist: Teen manzil hai. (Three floors)

Chief: Isme jo log rehte hain..kidhar gaye. (Where are those who live there?)

Terrorist: Us time to nikal gaye the..pehle umne chowk pe fire kiya tha..tab who utar ke nikar gaye the. (When we fired at the chowk, they climbed down and fled)

Chief: Chalo theek hai..imaarat agar pakki hai to kal din mein bhi jhadap honi chahiye..goliyaan wagerah ehtiyaat se fire karma. (Is the building is strong, the assault should continue even tomorrow. Fire carefully)

Terrorist: Insha-Allah.

Conversation II

Chief: Salaam Aalequm

Terrorist: Walequm-as-salaam

Chief: Pyaare kya haal hain..theek ho? (How are you?)

Terrorist: Bilkul Zabardast. (Very fine)

Chief: Zunaid bol raha hoon. (This is Zunaid speaking)

Terrorist: Jee; Jee; Jee Pehchana maine. Baaki khair, aap sab theek ho? (Yes, I know. Is everything fine at your end?)

Chief: Allah ka karam. Khair aap sunao..kaise soorte haal hai ? ( By God's grace, all is well. How are you?)

Terrorist: Ladh rahe hain dushman ke saath.(We are fighting the enemy)

Chief: Allah taala aapko istaqamat de. (May Allah give you strength)

Terrorist: Aameen, Aameen, Aameen.

Chief: Goya ki, aapne murde ghoron mein dobara jaan daal di. (You have revived an old and dead issue)

Terrorist: Insha-Allah, Insha-Allah

Chief: Inshallah aapki qurbaani se, is mehnat se, nayee tareekh-e-Kashmir par achcha asar padega. (Your efforts and sacrifice will help revive the fight for Kashmir. It would be good for the cause.

Terrorist: Ameen.

Chief: Kashmir ke tareekh, Insha-Allah dobara apne usi tarz par aayegi. Bada Achcha asar padh raha hai iska. (Your efforts are proving to be good for the Kashmir cause)

Terrorist: Saare saathiyon se kehna hamaare liye dua karein. (Tell our brothers to pray for us.)

Chief: Insha-Allah sab yehi dua kar rahe hain ki. (Everyone is praying)

Terrorist: Baaki koyi nayi taazi. (Anything new?)

Chief: Koi nahin. Allah ka kaam hai, saathiyon ko himmat de..jitne der chala sakte ho, utni der chalayein. (May Allah give you strength. Prolong it as long as you can.)

Terrorist: Insha-Allah. Jab tak hamare paas hai, ladenge inke saath. (Till they are with us, we will continue to fight)

Chief: Ehtiyaat ke saath..ek ek do do karke mashroof rakho. Inka zyaada se zyaada kharcha aayega. Dabav padega inpar. (Fire intermittently and carefully. It will cost them more and put pressure on them)

Terrorist: Lakhon ke hisaab se inka kharcha hua hai. Kal ek baje se shuru kui hhai fight..puri raat chalti rahi hai. (They have already spent lakhs. It started at 1:00 yesterday, and it continued overnight.

Chief: Allah, himmat de saathiyon ko, rehmat de. Ameen. (May god give our brothers strength)

Terrorist: Allah Hafiz.

Conversation III

Terrorist: Salaam Rehmatullah

Chief: Bhai kya haal hai? Khairiyat hai?? Theek hai ? (How are you ? Is everything going well?)

Terrorist: Bilkul, Qaari Saheb ko shadat mil gayi. (Qaari Saheb has attained martyrdom)

Chief: Kis time ? (What time?)

Terrorist: Unko fire laga hain, abhi saans chal rahi hai. (He was shot at. He's still breathing.)

Chief: Allah Taalah, Allah Taalah, Uski shahadat ko Qabool kare. (May Allah accept his martyrdom)

Terrorist: Mere liye bhi dua karo ki meri shahadat bhi lag jaaye. (Pray for me too that I may attain martyrdom soon)

Chief: Allah aapko himmat de.(May God give you strength)

Chief: Qaari Saheb agar hosh mein hain toh mera salaam de dein unko. Duao ki dharkhawast hai.(If Qaari Saheb is conscious, convey my Salaam to him)

Terrorist: Bilkul Sahi. (Very well)

Chief: Allah Hafiz

On Wednesday last, two terrorists armed with AK 47s and grenades stormed Lal Chowk in the heart of Srinagar. As the police retaliated, the terrorists, allegedly from the Lashkar-e-Taiba, rushed into Hotel Punjab. 600 civilians were evacuated from surrounding areas. The two militants holed themselves up on the top floor of the hotel.

Security forces finally entered the hotel on Thursday morning. Both terrorists were killed. Another two people died in the encounter; nine were injured.

Nearly all attacks are preplanned so even if they are caught red handed. They could be easily branded as stateless actors.
