ISLAMABAD, Jan 28 (APP): Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro on Monday said Pakistan and China enjoy broad-based relations, as the two countries are actively cooperating in various fields. He appreciated the investments made by Chinese companies in Pakistan in various areas particularly in energy, water and power sectors. The Prime Minister was talking to Lour Goujum, President of China International Water and Electric Corp. (CWE), who met him here at the PM Secretariat today.

While appreciating the contribution made by CWE in undertaking many projects in Pakistan, the Prime Minister said the government would provide all possible help to CWE for early completion of their projects and asked for more investments in other sectors as well.

The Prime Minister said that in the last couple of years there has been a big surge in trade between the two countries and efforts were underway to further promote it.

The Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, he said was an historic development and had helped in a big way to enhance trade and economic activities between Pakistan and China.

He further said that the government was pursuing investment-friendly policies and had given special incentives to the Chinese to invest in Pakistan so that the economic ties between the two counties would be further strengthened.

Lour Goujum while appreciating the investment-friendly policies of the government of Pakistan said that CWE had been working on a number of projects in Pakistan for the last thirty years and expressed confidence that his company would further invest in Pakistan in future.

Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan, Lou Zhao Hui was also present in the meeting.
