PAF successfully test-fires indigenously developed long-range smart weapon from JF-17 Thunder

. .
Its a standoff weapon to hit HAS and other fortified structures.
Basically, in OCA its designed to bust aircraft in their pens and in Interdiction its designed to bust open enemy fortifications and command bunkers.
@Bilal Khan 777
Any name or designation for them? Its not the takbir REK then. What do you think about guidance? How many do you think jf17 will be able to carry?

.
Gentlemen, I am hearing some interesting chatter on this test. Apparently this smart weapon has a range greater than 300 Kms - in fact closer to 600kms!! This is because Pakistan is not a signatory to MTCR treaty so the range of the weapon has been extended. Also the weapon is most likely 'Satellite Guided'.
If this is true, all indian cities within 600 km range, which includes indian capital NEW Delhi, can be targeted!!

Highly unlikely.

1. The Missile Technology Control Regime is not a treaty and is not legally binding on members. The regime aims to prevent the proliferation of long range systems that may be capable of delivering an NBC payload. Members to the Regime can build weapons to any range they want however they cannot export a delivery system with a payload of +500kg and a range greater then 300km.

2. To me this weapon looks like 2000 lb bomb (possibly mk84) attached to a guidance kit. If so, it would be impossible for the range to be 300km let alone 600km.

The H4 which use a booster, can achieve the declared range of 120KMs. This was developed in early 2000s, nearly two decades ago. H2 (60kms), H4 (120Kms) and REKs (100kms) were used in PAF counterstrikes on Indian targets on 27th. Similar booster could have been used here as well with this classified weapon system to extend the range to 300kms+.

This can wipe out all IAF western airbases, FOBs. This was not testing but messaging. Their aircrafts may get airborne but wont find the place to land.

Bull.shi.t! You are just speculating since there is NO picture or details of the weapon released. Also, the official release clearly says 'Long Range'.

I am pretty confident they have used jet engine tailkit on this new weapon. By using a jet engine tailkit you can increase the range of smart weapons 10 times!!

Boeing have proposed this solution plenty of times to the US miliatary on their JDAMs.

Yes indeed. Also, for your interest see my above reply which outlines how extended range is possible.

Why is Pakistan being secretive about JF-17's recent 'smart weapon' test?
https://www.theweek.in/news/world/2019/03/14/pakistan-secretive-smart-weapon.html

with top banner showing Mig21 downing F-16 has put Russians up front in the race of Indian Airspace.

We should now release the SU30 downing video

Yet India now seeks the French Rafale over more Su30MKIs, Su35 or Pak-Fa? Or is considering further western systems like the F21 over anything Russian? The Indians are fooling no one but themselves with their stupidity.

As for Su30 footage, have the Indians released any evidence of downing an F16? They are claiming that the burden lays with Pakistan to prove that an F16 was not shot down o_O so, respond in kind to them, ask them to prove that an MKI was not shot down. Dont fall for Indian BS!

And you're not speculating as well? Since there's no clear picture of the weapon being used how are you so confident of it's range and capabilities? I was just giving my opinion on the matter.

It remains to be seen what the weapon used actually is and until then we're all guessing. I'm happy to be proven wrong

I would suggest disregding that chatter as nonsense.

An unpowered glide bomb is lucky to get 60km from a good height and perfect launch parameters..
Leave alone ridiculous numbers such as those.

Good to see some people have common sense, i tried to point out that numbers he was throwing around (300 -600km) are ridiculous.
