Here is what i got Pshamim sb saying

Yes. We got some MAA-1A last August and September. B version still in testing but contracts may have been signed. India is not very happy and it thinks because of Brazil and India being part of BRIC Brazil should not support Pakistan.

However, theremay have been an agreemnt in place according to which Pakistan and Brazil, probably Mectron will share the development costs 50:50. I am not sure if the agreement was for MAR-1 or MAA-1B. Mectron is reported to have added 60 more engineers after the agreement so it is most likely to benefit from this agreement

Pakistan Air Force - Unknown number of MAA-1A Piranha 1 missiles delivered in June 2010. Letter of Intent signed by Pakistan to procure the MAA-1B Piranha 2

MAA-1B Piranha 2 has Improved range, maneuvrability and infra-red counter-measures (IRCM) systems. 80% of components are Brazilian. Undergoing testing which may be completed by late 2008 or early 2009.

Background:
The MAA-1 Piranha 1 is a short-range infrared homing missile and the first air-to-air missile developed by Brazil.
The MAA-1 Piranha is a supersonic, short-range air-to-air missile relying on infrared passive guidance which seeks the target's heat emissions coming primarily from the engine/s. The infrared sensor uses two colors to discriminate infrared countermeasures (IRCM) from the real target and was supplied by South Africa's Kentron (Denel Group). It is highly manoeuvrable and can turn at accelerations of up to 50g. The Piranha performs as a 'fire and forget' missile, that means once launched the missile does not require input data coming the aircraft's sensors to hit its target. A laser fuze is responsible for detonating the high explosive warhead. Externally, it is very similar to Rafael's Python 3 air-to-air missile and the aerodynamic configuration is near the same.

tht is some wonderful news .PAF is getting sensible with passing times.

MAA-1B is still underdevelopment, Pakistan can get it after 2012

and what about A darter then?

A-Darter is still in development and a JV b/w South Africa's Denel Dynamics and Brazil's Mectron .It is a 5th generation short-range infra-red homing air to air missile ,it has been stated that Pakistan Air Force is very much interested in A-Darter purchase and will most likely be the first and biggest customer of A-Darter missiles

I came across one of the posts of Pshamim sb in another forum (though few months back) where he said

PAF is likely to buy 500-1000 A-Darter missiles at a price of $450,000 each

Here is Pshamim sb exact post

South Africa and Brazil are cooperating in the development of "A" darter missile which is undergoing tests. Hopefully, the production will start in 2013 and Pakistan is the first country to show interest. It has shown its willingness to buy at least 500 to 1000 of this missile for $450,000 each. This news has already been published before and not a secret.

However, how Brazil may react, given Indian threats and pleas, is not yet known.

It was a separate deal from MAR-1.MAR-1 is an anti radiation missile while MAA-1A is a short range air to air missile

And what is the present status of MAR-1 deal? Any info?

PAF is in process of integrating MAR-1 on JF-17, remember the interview of JF-17 Project director published in Some magazine in July or August, in which he said the exact words

These Piranha are suppose to have a very painful bite - suppose to out perform the sidewinders - :chilli:

Can you imagines our planes loaded with SD-10 and now the Piranhas?

And UNCLASSIFIED range as well damn what a great boost in our capabilities ...
