Islamabad—A detailed inaugural briefing regarding the aim, objectives and conduct of the PAF exercise Tempest-II was held at Nur Khan Auditorium Air Headquarters, Islamabad, on Tuesday. General Rashad Mahmood, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committeewas the chief guest at the occasion. Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force was also present at the briefing. Senior officers from tri-services also attended the exercise briefing.
In pursuit of crystallizing the newly conceptualized war fighting concepts, PAF in synergy with sister services, is conducting a war game ‘Tempest-II’.The war game is based on the prevalent Concept of Operations of PAF and its aim is to assess the efficacy of Airpower in any future conflict. The exercise would not only incite intellectually rewarding debates on strategy and operational art but would also prove to be an effective tool for identifying own strengths and challenges, which ultimately steer the future force development process of PAF.The exercise is an important element of the PAF’s operational planning cycle and its outcome would assist PAF in campaign planning during war.
Airpower over the years has transformed from its nascent form of a supporting arm to an independent force capable of decisively influencing the outcome of a war. The concept of war fighting now revolves around employment of air power due to its core competencies to be effectively employed across entire spectrum of conflict.

Local newspapers have reported this in a low profile with very little details.

. . .
This may be just an intellectual, think tank exercise where all three forces discuss certain strategies

. . . .
Essentially expanded CCS class.
The CCS grads who have returned to their squadrons are tested for their lessons and their teaching their squadron the tactics they learnt.
Thanks Sir....

CCS would not like to hear that...it is a expanded paper excercise and electronic simulation of war plans.

. . . .
Actually it invokes the counter air strategy of PAF plus use of JF17 in the maritime role.
