PAF Chief in Washington

2 F-16s were delivered a week back... So I presume the rest will follow.... 18 52s .. PAF will probably go for em.. Considering that was the original order (32)...

Do you think that block 52s are enough to tackle the Indian SU-30?

Take it as national rhetoric or something else word friend in international Politics is very common.

In 1971 we kept waiting for US, our ally. We are still waiting for civil nuclear deal even after 10 years. US preferred india over Pakistan.
You have negated your whole argument with the first sentence. As to the second sentence this is tue same idiocy of thinking others will fight your battles for you. Dont pick a fight if you cant fight by yourself. Secondly you need to revisit history about the US role in the 71 war. Thirdly why not blame Bhutto for his theatrics in the UN when accepting the polish. Proposal would have stopped the war. Instead he tore the papers and stormed out. We have too much to blame on our own selves So lets not point fingers at others[/QUOTE]

Get over 1971. Why are we so stuck in the past.

I wish, we go for few F35s with AIM120D and other missiles & we should talk for patriot missile system .

Why not get a couple of dozen F-22 parked on a special aircraft carrier (able to carry them) and escorted by 5/6 nuclear ballistic missile submarines armed with ICBM?

Lets be realistic, it is just a meet between two heads of professional forces, that is all.
Not every visit is to get some goodies!!

f35 cost 44K USD per hour to run . Pakistan's econmy is ~200 million usd . So if Pakistan spends it's entire annual GDP it gets about 4500 flying hours . I pray to the god above you get 100 F 35 's.

It may be a reflection of what is being propagated vis a vis Pakistan by the Indian media these days ... especially since the advent of the Modi Sarkar. Prejudice, communalism and jingoism at its peak.

Pakistanis have pointed out at thousands of places at this site that F -16s will be useless because of some kill switch stuff. Now many of us are supporting F-35 for pakistan. Do you think that america will give us their latest birds without any strings attached or some"kill switches"?

when Iaf bought mig-29, Paf bought f-16 to counter it,
when Iaf bought su-30, Paf bought f-16 to counter it,
when Iaf bought rafale, Paf bought f-16 to counter it.

I am surprised at arm-chair generals ditching F-16 fighter jets as if it is easy for Pakistan to acquire them. F-16 fighter jets might be old but they are excellent performers and deliver in the hour of need. Thanks to these fighter jets, IAF understands that PAF can hold its own against them in a conflict. IAF will send MIG-29 and SU-30 MKI into Pakistan? Let them try. I am sure that F-16s will make short work of them in able hands.

Anybody remembers 2008 and 2013 intrusion incidents? MIG-29 were intercepted by F-16 in 2008 and SU-30 MKI were intercepted by F-16 in 2013.

I am not underestimating the potential of good Russian Jet Fighters but F-16 grant PAF the capability to neutralize many Jet fighters.

PAF is replacing its aging fleet of Mirages and F-7 with JF-17 and F-16 models and this is a sound leap in its capability to protect Pakistani airspace. Yes, we can aim for acquisition of some superiority fighters such as SU-35 and stealth fighters such as F-35 and J-31 but these are likely to be acquired in small numbers (if possible) due to current Pakistani economic situation. Pakistan does not have the luxury of proposing joint-ventures for the development of state-of-the-art weapon systems with other countries at the moment.

I am sure that [if] Pakistan becomes economically prosperous, majority of markets will be open to it.
