PAF air strikes: 17 militants killed

KALAYA: At least 17 militants were killed and 12 others injured in an air strike by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the Mamozai area of Upper Orakzai Agency on Tuesday, a senior regional government official said.

The official suspects that Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan Commander Tariq Afridi who was leading militants in Darra Adam Khel could also be among the dead.

The Afridi group was involved in twin suicide attacks at Kohat Tunnel, the murder of a Polish engineer and other terrorist attacks in Peshawar and Hangu areas.

The planes targeted and destroyed four militant hideouts in Mir Kaleem Khel, Tosamat and Akhoon-kot areas of the agency.

Security forces also recovered a huge cache of weapons during a search operation in various areas of the agency.

The attack on militants is part of the ongoing offensive to restore government’s writ in the area.

Orakzai is one of the tribal regions along the Afghan border where the army has tried to root out militants with offensives against their strongholds.

“We had information that militants gathered there and were planning attacks so we launched the attack,” senior government official Zaman Khan told Reuters in Kalaya, the main town of Orakzai.

An earlier strike had killed at least 26 militants and destroyed about a dozen of their hideouts as fighter jets bombed targets Orakzai.

Great

these bastards should only be killed

and anyone which aircraft was used in this great purpose?

I wonder the same, so many of the US strikes killed civilians, whats the chance a few of these "militants" were civilians? The Pakistani military has always been very secretive with a long track record of misinformation as a means of psychological warfare, atleast Id hope thats the purpose...we can probably differentiate between civilians and militants better than foreigners, but when you are flying at that high an altitude and relying on the sophistication of computerized avionics...I doubt it makes that big of a difference.

Congrats to the PAF. I hope thousands of JDAM kits, and the training to use them, are made available. You've got a house full of terrorists, like TTP, holed up in a strong defensive position. A guy with a special laser tags the house, and the device uploads perfect GPS coordinates to the orbiting F-16/JF-17. Bomb is programmed, and loosed. No more TTP, no frontal assaults where the good guys take casualties.

You guys do realize (I hope) that the U.S. drones are after militants, and civilians are never intentionally killed. But I think people will find out that if the PAF continues with this sort of strike (and I sincerely hope they do) that there will always be civilian dead. It is sadly unavoidable. Hopefully, they are minimized.

When (not IF) it happens, I also hope people blame the militants. In WW1, WW2, "real" wars, the soldiers and airmen fought each other. Soldiers didn't hide among civilians in plain clothes, they proudly wore uniforms and protected their citizens.

Collateral deaths can be squarely blamed on the terrorists for their vile tactics.

Thats a very relevant point, we've seen this tactic of hiding in the civilian populations in all guerrilla warfare based conflicts. It serves the dual purpose of limiting their own casualties and then using the death of civilians, which is their fault to begin with, as a propaganda tool to show how vile and evil the Americans or whomever is responsible for the bombing is.
Hopefully this time the Pakistani military is serious and wont let up till these elements are eliminated. In a way, attacks such as the one on PNS Mehran were necessary, if only for the military establishment to realize it has completely lost control of these elements that the ISI once proudly proclaimed as under their control. The enemies of Pakistan are within, and I felt the American drone attacks were necessary, since our incompetent leadership wasn't even trying to get rid of these terrorists...but maybe things will be different now.

Good job PAF keep it up in fact to all Pak armed forces pound these bastards straight to hell because that's where they belong kill em all just fuc_en kill plzz so people can live in peace may GOD bless Pakistan and its armed forces.

SSW has been used in the past, to get close to the target to verify presence of takfiri and to ensure that there are "eyes" on the price, as the strike package comes in.

There is a much higher chance that terrorists were killed in this case as compared to the US drone strikes killing civilians. The US got faulty intelligence from local 'informers'/spies, & most of the time, these locals used to give targets for drone strikes to settle scores with one another. The ISI was kept out of the loop of the drone strikes, which is why the terrorist networks were left in tact & completely unaffected after the drone strikes. The ISI has very strong intelligence in these regions, so they would hit targets a lot more than the US drone strikes would.

Love American Double game!! pick all terrorist before operation as usual like before and now once again...! doubt! if old operations was successfull thn why we have seen massive amount of attacks after SWAT and SW operation! more people died after operations.... very good... love american game!

Good going PAF.. just make sure that you do NOT commit to mass civilian murders.. casualties are a must but make sure to destroy the militants.. who ever they are.. Any Anti-Pakistan element needs to be taken out, right from the roots..
