My father has flown Royal Air Force jets too when he visited there. This dosen't necessarily mean the PAF is evaluating the EF.

.
But when Air Marshall test something it mean something and plus its news too.

.
I really don't think the PAF will consider purchase of a $123 million dollar plane.

.
I think PAF has started its homework for F16 replacement, because India is interested in F16. If India pick F16, then PAF will look something else, which is superior or better then F16. Even it carries US engine and few avionics.
What you guys say?

If the EF's come at the expense of the J-10s, then perhaps it is possible. I can't see the PAF buying EF's and J-10, because that would be pointless as the EF is a higher quality version of the J-10.

It may be possible that the PAF is waiting for India to award its fighter plane contract, and if they pick F-16s, the PAF may consider the EF. If they pick a Russian plane, the PAF might go with the J-10.

Another assumption is coming up. Its because Saudis made EF deal. So, Pak is buying few in number just in case.
I think so too PAF is not ordering more F16 til Indian decision.

.
EF hmmm well i remember once reading an article that PAF was very much interested in Rafale because of his dual type sticks, the very same used in the F-16s which our pilots are very use too.
IMO if we go for a EF then its better we go for a rafale why because france is a much more reliable supplier then anybody else after china and also EF includes to many countires in it and hence too many strings attached to it.

I don't quite understand what you mean. Just in case of what?

The PAF has shown interest, yes. But the EF and Rafale both are in the running for the Indian contract. So if India goes with Ragale, Pakistan might buy it too. Same with the EF.

IMO Pakistan should adopt a full Chinese fleet. This way ToT is taken care of. The EF, Rafale or the F-16 are unlikely going to come with ToT.

Having said all of this, if the PAF were really interested in a European fighter, the Gripen would be the most likely and realistic choice.

.
PAF would love to have Typhoon, Rafale, or JSF but it is currently not in a position to do so. We will probably get J-XX/JSF when PAK-FA comes out to the IAF.

It feels Saudis cut the deal of EF on PAF recommendation. Cuz why PAF top guys testing this jet. But right now BAE desperately looking for EF market.

One might call it complimentary or customary or just a goodwill gesture that in many cases when senior airforce officers visit another airforce, they do hitch a ride in some of their aircrafts. There are few pics in this forum where Chief of RAF has flown in K-8 at Academy, does this mean that RAF is buying or interested in K-8s!!!

Similarly, our few pilots have flown in Mig-29, Su-27, Mirage-2000 and even in F-15/F-14. Likewise US Navy pilots flew in F-7 and Mirage during joint exercises at Karachi.

So I don’t think that this pic means anything. With the prospects of JF-17, J-10 and new F-16s looming on the horizon, one can assume that PAF wont think about EF or Rafaels at this moment.

.
The Saudis went with the EF on account of numerous internal and external political factors in regards to the defense relationship with the US. They also have a prior relationship with BAe with their Panavia Tornado program which started in the late 80s.

In my opinion Pakistan cannot afford to pay cash for EF or F16s like the oil rich saudis can, it is just ridiculous. PAF should have a policy where no new planes are procured unless there is TOT involved. Say for example that 80% of a JF-17 is produced within pakistan itself for a cost of $20 million. Well that is $16 million pumped into the local economy instead of absolutely everything pumped right out of the pak economy.

Something like this needs to be done for cars, civilian planes(cargo and propeller), buses and trucks and tractors. I know there is already some assembly as well as development going on but in order to industrialize and develop a good manufacturing base any opportunity to make production indigenous should be grabbed and used.

I am sure with some enhancements the JF-17 can match the EF somewhat.
