NEW DELHI: Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek stunned top seeded American pair of Bob and Mike Bryan to clinch Australian Open men's doubles title.
The unseeded Indo-Czech combine registered the straight sets victory 7-6, 6-2 over Bryan brothers in the summit clash that lasted 84 minutes. This is Indian tennis great first Australian Open title and 7th doubles title.
The Indo-Czech duo fought brilliantly in the first set that went into the tie-breaker and won the second set 6-2 easily to finish the match.
Earlier on Thursday, Paes and Stepanek defeated Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Canadian Daniel Nestor in the semifinal.
