LAHORE, March 15, 2012 ― Yes, you heard it right: Pakistan now has its own version of an android tablet. PAC Pad 1 is the result of collaboration between Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and Hong Kong based company INNAVTEK International (H.K.) Ltd.
Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) is a public sector organization comprised of four co-located factories which virtually take care of maintenance of all operational assets of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for the purpose of effective control and efficient working.
INNAVTEK is a marketing organization of Beijing based Original Equipment Manufacturer NAV Tech Co., Ltd., and is a leading manufacturer of customized navigation products. In the year 2009-10, INNAVTEK jointly developed two navigation products with Avionics Production Factory which are successfully flying on the fleet of JF-17 aircraft, and there are three more joint products in the development phase.
Pakistans military, infamous for allegedly having backdoor contacts with militant groups and extremist elements thanks to international propaganda, is not restraining itself to the production of JF-17 fighter jets and other ammunitions.
In addition to PAC Pad 1, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) has also produced a notebook (PAC nBOOK 1) and an eBook (PAC eBook 1).*
The press release for the inaugural ceremony of commercial products at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) states that, For the Joint Production of JF-17, PAF had established sufficient facilities which are appropriate for the production of both Defense and Commercial products. Chairman PAC Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan therefore decided to optimally utilize the facilities and resources of PAC to contribute in strengthening the national economy through commercialization.
In order to achieve viability both technically as well as commercially, PAC has commenced the co-production in collaboration with Hong Kong based company INNAVTEK International (H.K.) Ltd. This company has already established itself as one of the main partners of PAF in co-development / production of the avionics products.*
Its about using spare capacity. There are 24 hours in a day, do we waste them or use them to make something? said Sohail Kalim, PACs sales director.
Secretary of Defense General Shahid stated that Pakistan is a peace loving country and wants to maintain peaceful relations with international community especially our neighbors. However it stands determined to safeguard the national interests and uphold its sovereignty against any aggressor. Strengthening of national economy through optimal utilization of in country available resources and developing experts for supporting industrialization is an essential step in the same direction.
He also stated that co-production of commercial products at PAC Kamra will open doors of greater opportunities for exploring the newer technologies in collaboration with highly qualified academia, experts of INNAVTEK and PAC, which will eventually help us achieve the ultimate objectives of building up totally indigenous Defense and commercial industries.
The success of PAC Pad 1 and other products of Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) depends on the response these products receive from the consumers. However it is not certain whether or not PAC Pad 1 will be a competitor for the similar tablets such as Apples iPad or Samsungs Galaxy Tab.
