Russia started this war - i dont see this ending anytime soon. The west + Ukraine did not respond to Crimea + Donetsk/Luhanks in 2014 - and we got 2022 for it... this war will end when Russia is kicked out of Crimea and all of Donbas. ie the pre-2014 situation is "restored". Russia has to, and will pay a price for this. No way Russia gets away for free.

And of course, there are the war reperations that are due to Ukraine...

As for the others, there will not going to be a change after annexation. Russia is not going to use nuke, it's naive to think Russia (or rather Putin) would bound by their own law not to first use until Russia is being attacked. They don't need to wait for annexation to use nuke, they can't because they know exactly what the West can do if they use nuke. As I pointed out in the main thread, all NATO plane has gone dark since referendum. If Putin is smart, he knows it means NATO will probably be able to strike wherever he nukes Ukraine from before the nuke took off, and then a massive crippling strike with hundreds of sorties flying into all parts of Russia doing Full Count, Alpha Strike or Strike Package or whatever you call it. And you know what? NATO did not announce this, because they know you either do it, or not, no point announcing their plan to the enemy like an idiot.

IN fact, by annexing those 4 oblasts, it's like announcing the mobilisation, it basically means Russia do not think they can fend off the Ukrainian and have to speed up that referendum in hope that Ukraine will feel for the bluff. That's the same as admitting Russian troop have been seriously mauled instead of everything is A-OK when he asks for the 300,000 mobilised troop. This is a desperate act, which changes nothing

Lyman is only the beginning, with Lyman gone, it free up 8 Brigade in a single line between Svatove to Kremina. That would be the main event.
