Good, she clarified her statement because in her earlier statement she sounded like a ungrateful fifth- columnist.
Rep. Ilhan Omar Statement on Questions During the House Foreign Affairs Committee
June 10, 2021
Press Release
MINNEAPOLIS—Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) released the following clarification on her questions during the House Foreign Affairs Committee this week.
"On Monday, I asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken about ongoing International Criminal Court investigations.
"To be clear: the conversation was about accountability for specific incidents regarding those ICC cases, not a moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the U.S. and Israel.
"I was in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems."
===========================================
Here are some facts about Taliban:
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and UAE were the only three countries that recognize Taliban “government.” United Nations NEVER recognized them, at the United Nations, Afghanistan was represented by the government of Pres. Burhanuddin Rabbani. In other words, there was never a “Taliban government.”
The Taliban supported terrorism around the world. Area under their control had become a terrorist den. They not only gave refuge to terrorist but allowed them to run their own training camps. There were hundreds of camps spread all over, run by Al-Qaeda, terrorists from North Africa, Middle East, Indonesia, China (Uighurs) and even sectarian terrorists from Pakistan had their own training camps. So, what were these terrorists training for, to join the Olympics, of course not, they were training to kill their fellow Muslims and non-Muslims.
Taliban on numerous occasions since 1998 refused to hand over Osama bin Laden:
They refuse Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s request. Gen Musharraf book In The Line Of Fire. Page 212 and 213:
Resolution 1267 (1999), Adopted Unanimously, Sets Out Measures To be Imposed if Demand Not Met by 14 November
Mr. bin Laden and his associates were indicted by the United States for, among other things, his role in the 7 August 1998 bombings of United States embassies in Kenya and the United Republic of Tanzania, and for conspiring to kill United States nationals. The Council's action noted this, as well as the United States request to the Taliban to surrender Mr. Bin Laden and his associates for trial.
By unanimously adopting resolution 1267 (1999) -- submitted by Canada, Netherlands, Russian Federation, Slovenia, United Kingdom and the United States. Also through resolution 1267 (1999), the Council insisted that the Taliban, which also calls itself the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, comply promptly with previous Council resolutions.
In particular, it must cease providing sanctuary and training for international terrorists and their organizations, take effective measures to ensure that the territory under its control was not used for terrorist installations and camps or for the preparation or organization of terrorist acts against other States or their citizens, and cooperate with efforts to bring indicted terrorists to justice.
==========
After the terrorist attack of September 11, Musharraf writes in his book page 216: “Try as we did, we could not pursued mullah Omar to let go of Osama in the window available before October 7, 2001, the deadline imposed by President Bush. We told him that his country would be devastated, but he did not understand.”
