LAHORE: Osama Bin Laden was a “great martyr” while Asif Zardari is “the biggest traitor”, said Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan on Sunday.
Addressing a public meeting at a Chakwal village, Hasan said that Bin Laden had been “martyred” because he refused to obey “the Great Satan”.
He said Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani should be put behind bars because he had challenged the Supreme Court’s authority, violated his oath and committed contempt of court by refusing to write a letter to the Swiss.

“Whosoever challenges the writ of the court should be handed down deterrent punishment,” Hasan said. He added that if Babar Awan and Rehman Malik had been jailed for contempt, the prime minister would not have disobeyed the court’s orders.

Hasan said that a “gang of exploiters” was ruling the country under the garb of democracy while the common man was unable to make both ends meet. He said that corrupt people could not control corruption and the masses would have to rise against the “oppressive political system”.

The JI ameer said that Prime Minister Gilani’s only achievement was to hide the president’s corruption. He said that parliament was keen to restore NATO supplies “to facilitate the enemy in the killing of Pakistanis”. He said parliament was no longer representative of the nation.

Osama a hero ? Voice for the oppressed ? Representative of muslims ?
Think for a moment, before this 'Hero' showed of his handy work painted with the blood of 3000 innocents who were NOT planning to destroy muslims in the World Trade Centre, were we hated like we are now? Did people fear us like they fear us now? Was the world gripped by an insecurity like it is now? Were we denied access to other countries like we are now? Did we have to live in fear of attack like we do now?

He's no hero, he was a terrorist, a mass murderer and a tyrant. His only legacy is the blood of 45,000 innocent Pakistanis.

While most pakistanis here and those i know personally are pretty sane in their thinking, the number of pakistanis who consider osama, mumtaz qadri, ilm ud din etc heroes is shockingly high. Its not like there is any doubt about their actions and guilt. just blaming JI etc is useless as they only seem to reflect popular belief.

People here seem to forget their views are hardly representitive of pakistan, because most of people here are at least educated, and get information easily from various news sources. A common man does not have that advantage.
Pakistani print media is good but electronic media is terrible, and spreads as much truth as lies (especially non-english ones).
The other source of information is your friend/neighbour etc which has high rumour content.(if you are common man)
