Now it's no secret, the Pakistan Air Force is in dire need of some new Aircraft. Things haven't been going very well as of late, here is a quick update on the situation.
IAF:
36-Rafale's
270-Super Sukhoi 30's
60-MiG 29UPG's
40-Updated Mirage 2000's

Meanwhile in Pakistan
74-F-16's (18 F-16C/D Block-52+, 45 F-16A/B Block-15 MLU, and 13 F-16A/B Block-15 ADF)
60-JF-17's Block 2 (Block 3 in development)
The rest of our Aircraft our mostly useless (and should had been retired a while back)

So things aren't going as lovely as we would like for it to be. Now Pakistan still has a while before it will need to induct a 5th gen fighter (post 2025), almost a decade from now. There is no secret that it needs a current gen platform to fill the gaps. India ordering 36 Rafales doesn't help the situation at all. There has been alot of discussion on this forum that the PAF is looking for a new fighter (of the current generation) and media reports of Pakistani interest in these fighters (like the Su-35).

Now the Eurofighter and Rafale are pretty much off the table due to costs. The Gripen is too similar to JF-17. The J-10 has not been of liking to our Air Marshals. The Su-35 is a more likely contender though its a gamble.

Bro, the only most ideal option is the F-16 SV or Block 70. The Indians already rejected the aircraft and why the PAF didn't capitalize is beyond me. The F-16 is the most advanced one out there. Probably just as good if not better then the Rafale and Eurofighter. A familiar platform and much more cost effective then the other options. Now your probably being like "the US didn't want to sell us the Block 52 and you talking about the Block 70, LOL Hassan is a dumbass." Now you are correct to an extent, but you need to remember the US was willing to sell the aircraft IF we could cover the funds ourselves which apparently we couldn't.
You can thank this handsome guy for that:

Now back to the F-16 Block 70, if we order lets say 1 or 2 squadrons and upgrade the other 4 to Block 70 as well. The holy cow, we got 6 high quality squadrons flanked by a lot of JF-17's. Equip those with the AIM-120D and AIM9X and boom, we got power in the sky until 2030. Now really this is the only feasible option that plays in our favour. The case for any other aircraft is too weak, i'm not convinced. Whether you would believe me or not this could have been a very feasible option.

But the reason we aren't getting more F-16's, let alone the Super Viper. It's because of the apparent case of mental retardation that our foreign policy makers suffer from. (And this is excluding us that Hussain Huqqani guy).
Just look at this crap:

Hand over the jets and pay for them too
This is what it literally sounds like, it's just not reasonable

http://www.businessinsider.com/us-tells-pakistan-to-fund-f-16-fighter-jets-2016-5
US tells Pakistan it will have to fund F-16 fighter jets itself
Have things gotten this sad?

Pakistan will get jets from elsewhere if F-16 funding not arranged, Aziz cautions US
I don't think threatening is a good idea....

They didn't fund the purchase, are we getting jets elsewhere or what????

Now I will say, the US should not put conditions on this deal. But if they are paying for it then it's fair. If Pakistan pays for the jets on their own then there will be no "strings
attached". All i'm saying is with better lobbyists and actual CASH things can go better. And even a F-16 Block 70 deal would be possible.

WAIT, whats this im hearing

Why kids like you don't do some home work before you start commenting on the forum. India has just signed the deal for Rafales and the first will be delivered around late 2018 or early 2019 and delivery will be finished by 2022 or 2023. Similarly Su30 will take a quite a long time before those can be upgraded.

While by mid-2017 the JF17 blk-III's will be in production and by 2020 next block will be ready while J-31 has been slated for production by 2019 so by 2022.

Rafale
I don't see how that makes things better, they are getting the aircraft in a couple years.

Su-30
The sukhois are already deadly and are becoming even more dangerous, And they have 270 of them.

JF-17
Where does it say the block 3 is ready in mid 2017, its late 2016 and Block 2 is still rolling out.

J-31
You are think WAY ahead, Has Pakistan pre-ordered the Aircraft or something?

I find this ironic.

For Pakistan it is no use competing with India on arms purchase, India is simply 9 times pakistan's economic size. India has so much more money to spend on military gadgets. This India vs Pakistan threads are kind of delusional because of huge size differences

I have a feeling that PAF is saving funds for something big , The last jets we bought were Jordanian second hand shitty F-16s in 2014 , since then we haven't procured any jet ( except the Jf-17s ) . How much funds does PAF get every year for procurement ? We might be saving these funds for J-31 or 4.5 gen jets ?

first, I doubt U.S would allow the sell of the most advance F-16 to Pakistan. not as long as China is snooping around.

second, Lockheed Martin wouldn't even be interested in producing only a squadron or two of F-16 block 70.

Pakistan will have to look elsewhere.

Another thread is running which states that IAF will get 250 T-50 jets . :(

I think 270 Su-30 will be upgraded by 2025 and delivery of initial 36 Rafale will complete by then too and rest of 90+/90 will start coming out of Indian production line by 2025 .to counter this threats PAF best options are stick to F-16 and try to get more and upgrade existing fleet to at least to V standard, get
J-31 and continue JF-17 induction with upgrade regularly according to defend and financial situation and threats it goings to face.

You might have J-31 to counter that. :china::cheers::cheers:

Not possible to get New F-16 as currently the message which was conveyed by the US was "Buy from your own Pocket" as they knew we can't do that.

So, once your Pocket allows you to buy F-16 then they will say "India won't allow it so I can't sell" as their Lobby is strong. All in all wishing about New F-16 is a waste of time now.

However I will surely be interested in the Euro Fighter T1 which I read on another thread that Italy might be selling as they are getting T3 soon. (Can anyone provide the specification of Euro Fighter T1?)

F-16V would be a much better choice (for PAF)

You have J-31 to counter that,

At the moment it looks like we will counter every thing with the J-31 . Cause there are very less chances of getting any 4.5 gen jet because of fund problems .
Agr aise he chalta raha to .....
J-31 vs SUPER SU-30
J-31 vs Rafales
J-31 vs T-50s
J-31 vs If India goes for F/A 18 / F-16 block 60
