Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, Gong Bencai, has stated that there are around one thousand Chinese companies operating in Indonesia, and about 50 percent of them are investing in Java.

"Indonesia is one of the main destinations for Chinese companies to invest," Bencai stated at a seminar on Five Year of Indonesia-China Strategic and Comprehensive Cooperation held here on Tuesday.

According to him, around 17 percent of the companies are engaged in construction, 15 percent are in the mining sector, and 13 percent are in the electricity sector.

Bencai noted that Chinese companies in Indonesia have been increasing the number of local workers, transferring technology and expertise, investing in value-added industries, and enhancing cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Chinese companies will also try to meet the domestic needs of Indonesia, such as in the fields of infrastructures, electricity generation, as well as water and food supply, Gong remarked.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, stated that the strategic partnership between Indonesia and China could be translated into very close friendships.

According to Oratmangun, although relations between Indonesia and China are enhancing rapidly, there is still a space for improvement, so that a strategic partnership can be translated into positive statistics for Indonesia.

Earlier, Maritime Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan had invited investors from China to increase their investment in Indonesia. So far, there are many facilities provided by the government for foreign parties to invest.

"Indonesia has good news such as improving the ease of doing business and managing to maintain high and stable economic growth," Pandjaitan noted.

He emphasized that Indonesia is a huge potential market, and the government at this time focuses on infrastructure development.

In addition to infrastructure, the minister showcased a variety of development programs, including village fund programs and special economic zones development. The minister also revealed Indonesia`s improvement in global investment rating.

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said cooperation between Indonesia and China has benefited both sides.

Indonesia is ready to continue comprehensive and strategic cooperation with China as long as the cooperation will continue to benefit both sides, Luhut said on the sidelines of a seminar on `Indonesia-China 5 Years of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership` here on Tuesday.

"In principle the cooperation has benefited the two countries, therefore if they invest in Indonesia,we don`t want the investment only to exploit the raw materials we have, but we want added value from the investment," he said.

Luhut said there are four aspects which are fundamental to be met by foreign investors in Indonesia - the technology and the investment must be environmentally friendly, the investors have to employ local workers as many as possible, and transfer of technology must go with the investment.

"Thereby, foreign investment must produce added value for Indonesia," he said.

He said China has become one of the most important partners for Indonesia. In the past three years , the governments of the two countries have cooperated closely, he added.

Indonesia and China have to be able to promote global and regional cooperation. The two countries have the ability to strengthen global cooperation, he said.

He went on to say , there are many things that Indonesia could learn from China such as determination and advanced research.

"I think they are a good example for strong discipline. They are fast in performing duty. Therefore, we should not talk too much about differences," he said.

Earlier Luhut invited China to increase investment in Indonesia, saying the country has offered facilities for foreign investment.

Indonesia, China agree to enhance comprehensive partnership
Selasa, 27 November 2018 20:44 WIB - 0 Views

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xiao Qian has stated that the Indonesian and Chinese governments have agreed to enhance bilateral comprehensive partnership cooperation.

"Thank you for the efforts of both parties, especially the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo. The bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership has been enjoying strong and stable development," Qian noted at a seminar on the Five-Years of Indonesia-China Strategic and Comprehensive Cooperation held here on Tuesday.

According to him, the cooperation has been rapidly growing, indicated, among others, by the frequent bilateral meetings between the two heads of state.

Qian remarked that Jinping had visited Indonesia twice, while Jokowi had visited China five times.

He also stated that the leaders of the two countries had consolidated political consensus of China`s Road and Belt Initiative, and Indonesia`s vision of becoming the World`s Maritime Axis.

In May 2018, officials of both countries officially began cooperation to build Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor, covering North Sumatra, North Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and Bali. This cooperation was initiated by Jokowi.

The completion of negotiations on trade agreements, through the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), is considered crucial in the midst of a heated trade war between the United States and China.

"The United States` policy of raising import duties has triggered a heightened trade relationship with China," Indonesian Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita explained on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Summit at Suntec Convention Center, Singapore, on Tuesday (Nov 13).

The Minister of Trade revealed that the boosting of trade relations between the two powers had no positive impact on ASEAN countries.

Lukita argued that trade war did not benefit any side.

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Relations between Indonesian and Chinese people are growing increasingly stronger, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xiao Qian has stated.

"Over the past five years, we have benefited significantly from exchange programs in the fields of tourism, education, media, think tanks, youth, religion, technology, sports, and many other areas," Xiao noted at a seminar on the Five Years of Indonesia-China Comprehensive and Strategic Cooperation held here on Tuesday.

The ambassador pointed out that some 2.06 million Chinese tourists had visited Indonesia in 2017. This figure increased to some 275 percent as compared to that five years ago.

In addition, over 15 thousand Indonesian students are currently studying in China, and that number is expected to continue to increase rapidly in future, Ambassador Xiao remarked.

In the investment sector, foreign direct investment in Indonesia has rapidly increased, from some US$300 million to $3.36 billion in the last five years.

China is also the largest trading partner and has taken steps to improve the quality of Indonesian products exported to China while promoting balanced trade.

Ambassador Xiao stated that bilateral cooperation in the infrastructure sector continued to increase, such as in the construction of Jatigede Dam, Tayan Bridge, and Light Rapid Transit or LRT in Palembang, South Sumatra.

"These main projects will contribute more to Indonesia`s economic growth," he noted.

Ambassador Xiao stated that China and Indonesia also strengthened collaboration and coordination in several international and regional issues.

For instance, the two countries collaborate in supporting Palestinian independence, tackling the Rohingya issues, and maintaining security and stability in the South China Sea.

Indonesian culture still does not welcome foreigners. I am not optimistic about the development of Chinese companies in Indonesia.
Chinese people with Indonesian nationality have established an image of Chinese god Guan Yu in a remote city and Indonesians think that this is a cultural aggression against Indonesia?
if so,there are so many mosques in China, is Islam also aggressing China?!

If a Javanese erected a giant statue of Gajah Mada in your China, in your neighborhood, without permission from anyone, wouldn't you say anything?

The protest was because it was erected without proper permit from local govt and consent from the neighborhood. However, the problem has been settled and now the statue is still standing and become one of local tourist site.

Great development. These companies will bring employment, technology and business activities to Indonesia, which will help local economical growth. Apparently China is only third placed in term of FDI in Indonesia so there are still tons of potential.
