S. Korea has done an amazing job really... beating out major European jet makers and come up with this...
Congrats to South Korea. Very hard working and smart people. They have indeed come a long way for such a small country who just 60 years ago was an impoverished backwater. They should serve as an example to other poor countries that anything is possible as long as there is a national conscience and will to work for the greater good of the country.
looks complete copy of F35 as far as exterior design is concerned
The engine will be F414-GE-400K from American general electric Company.
It is going to replace F4 and F5 of korean airforce and will complement the F35 fleet beside the old F15 and F16s.
The block 1 will be delivered by the end of 2026.
Indonesia will receive 50 of these aircrafts.
Most of its missiles will also be American made ones from Air2Air to Air2ground.
The general characteristics of it will be announced after final tests.
Most of its avionics are made in Korea by upto 60 percent.
Indonesia with no doubt is stake holder of this project and will receive considerable number of it.Hanwa Korea will make the engine underlicense so there is possibility the jet can be supplied by their own design jet engine maybe 20 years from now, Indonesia could possibly still join for the next program as Indonesia is the only SK strategic partner in Asia and possibly increase the stake from 20 % into 50 %.
SK will make all missiles, AA and A2G missiles but in steps, including antiship one
Current KFX/IFX missile is Meteor for BVR and IRIS-T for short range
Indonesia with no doubt is stake holder of this project and will receive considerable number of it.
About the engine and missiles, for now, mostly speculations and online guessings but highly likely American GBU series and European air2air missiles beside American ones will be used.
I doubt USA give under license engine production to an other country. In the avionics section, Korea will receive foreign help also.
I dont make a guess, the engine will be manufactured in Hanwa Korea, just take a look on KFX/IFX thread and they are also going to develop ramjet AA BVR missile and supersonic antiship missile.
Hanwa is already capable jet engine component supplier, latest their build some jet engine component in Vietnam.
