Guys i am sure you all know that there is a very large shortage of officers in INDIAN Army.

Is there any such trend in Pakistan too?

.
Nops, we are rather having extra officers :)

No shortage on our side, neither any let up in the recruitment process.

.
yes no shaortage in PA becoz PA sets very high standards than our counterpart

.
No Offence intended but

I don't understand.
India throws away huge money on expensive foreign toys but can't even pay it's soldiers well.

They are paying well, its not about pay.

I believe, a lot of Charm for the defence forces was taken away by the job opportunity in the private sector, as India is a growing economy.

But things may get better in future, as they have made their pays good enough.

You are right Taimi not at all defence forces but important sectors life DRDO and shipyards also facing problems of brain drains because best minds are going to the private sectors..

.
So it inevitably comes down to money.

Indians have gigantic defence budget. You shouldn't have Problems competing Private Sector.

.
it's funny. India with 1 billion people has shortage of officers in it's army.

:usflag::coffee:

.
wow india have a shortage of officers? china has too many of the other hand... trade? :)

Standards eh? They interview hundreds of above average potentials before selecting one. As a two time reject within the University Entry Scheme, i can testify that :P

General Deepak Kapoor's statement "for the forces is that most of those applying are not the right material". Unlike the private sector which can somehow make software coolies out of average graduates, the army has a much higher standard.

Infact, the higher your standards, the lesser worthy candidates you'll find for recruitment .. simple law of supply and demand.

So it inevitably comes down to money.

Well, easier said than done. All govt controlled sectors including defense have a lethargic salary for beginners as well as experienced professionals. Whats more, many of the experienced army officers are opting for voluntary retirement and moving to the private sector where their all round skills are well appreciated in monetary terms.

.
pls move thread to india defence as this section is for Pak Army only
