Obama to visit Pakistan in 2011: White House

WASHINGTON: US President Barack Obama will not visit Pakistan during his Asian tour next month, but has committed to a trip to the key US anti-terror ally in 2011, the White House said Wednesday.

There had been rising speculation over whether Obama would pay a surprise and unannounced visit to Pakistan when he visits India in two weeks, then moves on to Indonesia, South Korea and Japan.

But he told Pakistani officials taking part in a strategic dialogue with American officials in Washington that a visit would take place next year instead.

“The President explained that he would not be stopping in Pakistan during his trip to Asia next month, and committed to visiting Pakistan in 2011,” the White House said in a statement.

Obama also told the delegation that he would welcome Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to Washington, but no date was specified. -AFP

Hmm, its interesting.
President Obama has also committed year 2011 for withdrawal of troops from pakistan, its like he could do farewell to both pakistan and his troops from pakistan in same visit..off course diplomatically

Of course he will visit in Pakistan, as he thinks the war will wind down by 2011. Because by that he would have realized the ground realities and the fact that the mess they leave behind must be covered up by Pakistan Army and ISI.

No wonder they are already talking about next two year's military aid.

Two major forecasting. Change of govt in Pakistan and second attend the ceremony of NATO force evac from Afghanistan. He not only visit Pakistan, but most probably Afghanistan too. His visit will be very busy. Mainly talks with Pak army, Afghan govt and some invisible powerful peace brokers in Afghanistan.

As far as i remember, he said he would bring back troops, he didnt mentioned country name specifically.
Its obvious, when he take them out from afghanistan, they would be out from pakistan also.

But where are they deployed in Pakistan ?? Can you name their bases and place ?? We really want to hear as we don't know where they are.

May be you guys know.

Plus, did he said he is gonna have a 100% withdrawal from Afghanistan or partial, just like Iraq where they are keeping a few thousand troops.

Its prestige when the President of the only super power comes to your country, no matter how much everyone hates him.

Given Pakistan;s image as a country where drone attacks happen everyday to kill the terrorists and recent reports of Taliban/Al Qqaeda senior leadership being in Pakistan combined with some tough talking by Hillary few weeks back, it would soothe some nerves in Islamabad if Obama atleast visits them once and praises Pak's role in WOT in a press briefing in Islamabad.

Nobody cares really..99% Pakistanis don't like obama and hillary!
