National Security Advisor Ajit Doval (L) and CBI Director Alok Verma (R)

Alok Verma had started a preliminary enquiry in the Rafale deal and had even written a letter to Union Defence Secretary Sanjay Mishra, seeking some crucial files regarding it

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, on instructions from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), had personally asked Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Alok Verma to withdraw his request to investigate the controversial ₹60,000 crore Rafale fighter jet deal, sources close to the suspended CBI chief have confirmed.

It has been reliably learnt that Alok Verma had started a preliminary enquiry in the Rafale deal and had even written a letter to Union Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra, seeking some crucial files of the 36-fighter jet deal between India and France.

The news of Verma's letter to the defence secretary had created a panic within the PMO and NSA Ajit Doval was sent as an emissary to put pressure on Verma to retract his letter.

The suspended CBI Director had also made up his mind to arrest Rakesh Asthana, who has reportedly been accused of being involved in an extortion racket during his time as top cop and obstructing investigations potentially adverse to Prime Minister Narendra Modi
He was suspended within hours after refusing to cede to Doval's request, multiple sources in the CBI have told this correspondent. Asthana's allegations against Verma were just pretence to remove him, lest he investigated the Modi government.

Verma has challenged his dramatic midnight removal from CBI's top post by the Modi government in the Supreme Court.

Oh Dear, sh!t going to hit the fan soon, dodgy dealings going to bring Rafael down.

the best thing I like about India is its CBI and CAG... I hope that our NAB will continue its current pace and will be on par with CBI.

bjp is learning from the mistakes of nawaz sharif .

.
first bjp put their own judge as a chief justice of india .
.
now they eliminate alok verma and put their man as a CBI chief (An independent investigation agency. just like our NAB) .

CBI is almost hijacked.

CBI is currently the most controversial agency in India if you asked our political parties. ALok Varma's appointment was challenged by Congress when he was made CBI chief. Now they are fighting for him tells you the credibility of these news in India.
Second CBI has no authority in investigating this case. This deal is G2G contract and information on price isnt shared and CBI cannot start a investigation on its own unless a court ordered investigation. Even Alok Verma hasnt confirmed or denied that he had started an investigation. U will see a lot of "sources" based news for next few days. The truth is both have corrupt accusations. Lets see how this pans out. But CBI is very good in investigation if given full power to investigate.

However CAG is something we can be proud of.

Probably this article is created and posted by some Scroll/ Wire type 'guess' or 'sourced' based gas-paper.

Maybe it is a lesson for those who think that establishment agencies are beyond corruption

Verma dragged RAW in Asthana case and compromised key information.. Thats why he was sent off.. You can not settle personal issues at the cost of national security..

Supreme court has asked vigilance to complete thr investigation(which will be headed by a retired SC judge)on alok verma within 2weeks and said tht the newly appointed CBI chief cannot take any major decision,,until the matter is settled.moreover supreme court has asked govt to give complete details of all transfers in CBI during this period.

CBI politicization started sometime around 1980s and reached its peak in post 2004 era.

CBI is illegal body as per Guwahati HC some 25Y back. there is no law under which CBI operated :D Enjoy your day
