True about the Sikhs in West Punjab, I can't remember where I read but apparently most Sikhs had been settled in West Punjab by British. I heard the local Muslims tribes such as Awans weren't too happy with that.

.
Sikhs had been ruling West Punjab

Sikhs were not native to West Punjab, West Punjab has been the strong hold of mostly Niazi(Pushtun tribe) and Awans, during Sikh occupation the Awans launched small scale rebellious campaigns against Sikh rule. There were old rivalry against Sikhs and that's probably the reason why Sikhs were totally expelled from West Punjab.

Sikhs had been ruling West Punjab and parts of Afghanistan before the British came and defeated them to take control of those lands. Only reason Pakistan has the Khyber Pukhtoon province is because thats what the Sikhs annexed form the Afghans, which later became part of the British empire.

Hindus were not farmers, but pretty well off in urban areas. There were few Hindu farmers compared to Sikhs and Muslim farmers in West Punjab, so they didnt own agricuture lands. But Hindus practically owned everything in West Punjab cities/urabn areas. Hell even the name Lahore is a Hindu name since pre-partititon everything in that city was owned by Hindus.

Hindus were either low caste or banyas/shop keepers (khatris) in west punjab. They didn't practically own everything lmao, come back to real world. Only sikhs had agricultural lands. Hindus practically owned everything in Haryana or in British times known as east punjab.

You are from Mianwali?

Another thread gone to hell......

As for the thread, the Iranians are one of the top wrestling nations in the world, and making a transition to kabbdi shouldn't be a problem.

What you wrote only apply to Mianwali district.

Probably got my history mixed up lol. You are good with history of Punjab and I have been looking for any books on history of Awans but have so far failed. Are you aware of any books? I know its way off topic so you can ignore it or tag me in whatever thread.

Yes, it is true. Irrigated lands west of Chenab and Jhelum River were developed by British when they built irrigation colonies. Large number of people ( Sikhs ) were moved by British to these canal colonies and towns like Montgomery later renamed Faisalabad. Niazi Pashtuns interspersed with local Punjabi tribes were the dominant groups there.

Niazis mostly settled along Mianwali district pushing Awans out of there after spending time in neighboring areas now in KPK. Mianwali was in-fact in NWFP before it was included in Punjab. Later we dispersed to other places and have owned lands since the time of Raaj like in Faisalabad, Multan region for example but you can find the tribe in literally each city of Punjab, and those too who migrated from Indian Areas after partition also own throughout the region
