Norway to help Pakistan improve expertise of police, LEAs

ISLAMABAD, Jul 26 (APP): Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday emphasized that Pakistan and Norway should explore possibility of mutual cooperation in capacity building of Law Enforcement Agencies, especially police and FIA. He was talking to Ambassador of Norway in Pakistan, Ms. Cecilie Landsverk, who called on him here and exchanged views on bilateral issues. The Minister underlined that Pakistan highly values its relations with Norway and praised security system, democratic norms and rule of law in Norway.
He said the government of Pakistan Muslim League (N) is keen to work closely with Norwegian government to further strengthen bilateral cooperation for benefit of people of both the countries.
The Ambassador thanked the Minister for his welcome and assured him of all possible support and technical cooperation in strengthening capabilities of police and other LEAs.
The Ambassador also praised positive role of Norwegians of Pakistani origin in economic development and said that Norway takes the contribution with great respect.

our South Asian police is expert in this & nobody takes it back...

Pakistani police has 2 main problems
1.political pressure
2.political involvement desyroying merit
due to them many policemen who are dutiful don't perform their duties as if they have to leave certain person due to political pressure then why to be un justice with that who has noone backing him……(traffic police)
the political parties even support criminals in police department during slection……
here even IGs are under political pressure…
In Sindh many criminals working for parties have now jobs in police……
We just need a proper system and training
Police whole infastructure is useless at the moment…
the new equipmebts provided are used for unofficial work like new van is used to pick Daughter of police officer from school on government petrol…
but considering their structure,equipments,training and their ability their work on average i still better…
PML(N) if can de politicize police and health and can bring land reforms then this would be greatest work by anyone in history of Pakistan…
Other main things needed are division of Balochistan and making Gawadar a capital of other province and division of Punjab and creating FATA as a province……
In the same way major reforms are needed in Education,Health and specially building authorities……

I don't know condition of Poluce in India but here your mentioned drawbacks are coz of following reasons…
1.inediqate equipments(i.e no protection or light armours and air support and most degraded weapons)
2. Involvement of Politicians in crimes i.e bhatta khori, theft & roberry……
3.political pressure
If even political pressure is neutralized here we can expect atleast 35% rise in police performance & decrease of crimes and corroptions in many other fields like Health(theaft of free medicines from hospitals in which higher District health officials are involved)…

I think the main prob is that injustice has become a norm now! You arrest someone, his uncle knows someone in higher authorities and he is out within hrs...you gather evidence, suddenly that is either insufficient, disappears (eye witness disappears or changes statements) or simply the integrity is questioned...

Even if you manage to lock up someone useless with connections....he gets VIP treatment and comes back for more...He gets AC room with TV and cable connections, food from wherever he desires on the expense of the govt...So why SHOULDNT he do more BAD work?! Such people have no fear of the justice...Because there is none to begin with! So why bother catching such people and wasting time and energy?!

Hence, only the unconnected are caught some who didnt even do any crime...

When the justice system itself is so corrupt how can we expect policemen to do their job?! Too many hindrance!

Looking at the whole system of policing, it is clear that it works for what it is designed. The police in Pakistan are not there to serve the public. There are there to protect and serve a select few, and they do that job very well. As reward for doing that limited job, they are allowed to prey on the general public with too many problems.

So what was the problem again?

the British civil services officers serving in India when went back to UK they all were retired forcefully on pention……
They have still many years for job……
They went in court the Government had tje opinion that they werebthere in India to rule not to serve and once someone ruled then he can't serve……
The court agreed with government opinion and those people were retired……
We are still producing producing officials to rule and this system is created to rule people and never changed……

Not sure if we can efficiently blame the Britishers ALONE...I mean ...1 can choose not to be corrupt and live a simple life with simple wage...BUT Pakistan has become a victim to "woh kiya kahay ga...woh kiya soochay ga...uska bayta ziada kamata hai" and this leads to people wanting more and to be something they are not!
