BENGALURU: Adding fuel to the fire that has engulfed the nation, chief minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday attacked the anti-beef eating policy and speculations of the right wing organizations behind the Dadri killing.

At the Karnataka Youth Congress General Body meeting, Siddaramaiah said the anti-beef eating policy was absurd and that BJP and its affiliated parties cannot take the individual rights of people to eat the meat of cow.

"Till date I have never eaten cow meat. But if it suits my palette and if I want to eat beef, I will eat it. Nobody can stop me," he said.

Siddaramaiah recalled the recent raid by the Delhi police on Kerala Bhavan, on the issue of the State bhavan storing beef.

"I was still in Delhi when the police entered the Kerala Bhavan suggesting that beef was being circulated for food. And this, without the knowledge of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. How can anybody stop people eating what they want?" he questioned.

Siddaramaiah raked up the Dadri killing, the murder of the victim Akalaq as being "inhumane" and suggesting the growing intolerance in the nation.

"The right wing parties including Bajarang Dal, Sri Rama Sene, Vishwa Hindu Parishat etc. are all showing growing levels of intolerance under the BJP regime at the Centre. The beef eating controversy is part of this growing intolerance in the country," he said.

THis can be the last nail in the coffin of Sidhu. His home min is already sleeping with KFD, PFI. Come 2017, Cong will be history in Ktaka
Why?
What did BJP do when in power in Kar? They actually fared far worse than Congress - corruption, scandals etc. And why should it be anybody's business what another eats!

All this drama over beef by both main parties is for political space and no one is serious about this issue in reality

There were corrption allegations against Yeddy. Otherwise the administration much cleaner than any previous Cong govt. This time if BJP comes to power, Yeddy will be out.

Yes, I agree. It is not anybody's business what another eats; As long as it is not cow meat. Cowslaughter is banned in Karnataka too. So it is business of state legislature and also it is the business of article 48 of the Constitution of India ! :)

Many Hindus will hesitate to eat in malayali hotels or even drink tea in their hotels, so all this could have avoided instead of jumping and making a mountain out of mole hill.

As for Karnataka CM l, what he is doing is good people will know the true face of congress, and he also eats lot of pork so he is making balancing act:lol:

.
But the damage has been done, in the cow belt malayalis have lost respect, from now on if someone says he is a keralite they will be made fun of, they should have explained peacefully that it is bafellow meat and not of cows,
that's almost always a given, there really was no need for this, a politely inquiry would have done it.

I also wonder if everyone in the cow belt is clear about the cow/buffalo thing or if there is any there ambiguity in the law and it extends to all milch cattle.

whatever it is, dat beef fry
