Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday that he will not give any NRO to opposition whether his government is toppled.

During an interview with a private news channel, the premier said that opposition had thought that it will get NRO by blackmailing the government on FATF-related laws.

The premier also regretted over giving permission to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for treatment. There has always been two laws in the country one for poor and another for elite, he said.

He said that the government had tried to impose a condition of Rs7 billion surety bond against Nawaz’s travel abroad but it was overturned by the court.

Dr Faisal had told me that platelets issue is not severe but he is suffering from other serious disease, the premier recalled.

He revealed, “A king of a country had asked me to allow him to abroad”.

“If the medical board had not said that his condition was serious, I would never have let Nawaz Sharif out,” he added.

Pakistan will have to face problems if it is place on FATF’s blacklist, he highlighted, adding that the laws aimed at bringing transparency and curbing money laundering.

Pakistan will lose all international deals if it is blacklisted by the FATF, he said, adding that rupee will also suffer.

“India is lobbing for two years to blacklist Pakistan,” he added.

The premier said that the opposition is opposing the bills despite knowing everything. “They [opposition] want no discussion about money laundering and corruption”.

Sharif family holds properties worth billions but they could not provide any proof, Khan said.

He said that a joint session of the assembly has been summoned next week, adding that if government fails to get approved the FATF-related bill, opposition will be responsible for it.

“I will make no compromise on my ideology and will give no NRO,” he reiterated.
