the problem with just "living" together, as per my observations in the u.s., is that more often than not, it is the woman that ends up with short end of the stick (in a heteorosexual relationship) when the male counterpart makes her pregnant. Without any legal backing to a contractual commitment, there is nothing that stops a man from knocking her up and then just leaving. Sure, she can litigate later and ask for child support but that is a legal struggle that can potentially take YEARS. And that is just here in the u.s. so in india, it would probably take even longer.

BUT...if you are perfectly fine with it, then knock yourself out. enjoy the revolving door life and the liabilities that it brings with it!

But people marry when she gets pregnant. If he plans to walk away, she could abort. Even file a rape case against him. So there are many options.
