I think marriage is a sanctified institution even in Hindu religion. This new wave of secularism is actually destroying all traditional structures. This is not good and it cant be good. We see a lot if issues here in West when family values are compromised for whatever these 'progressive' values are.

Religion makes us a human being. Else there is not much of a difference between humans and animals. They too mate and live together, bear children and then go their ways. Living together without marriage actually turns us back to apes. This modernity is making us more primitive, more backward, but we call it 'progress'.
