That's not true. Calling immigrants infiltrators is a call back to the mccarthyism era when becomes a government policy to foster suspicion onto foreigners as a threat to the state. Don't say you haven't heard this narrative before.

It may seem to be political correctness to you, but it's really the same as calling immigrants enemies to the state. Israel is the only democratic nation whose government unabashedly calls illegal immigrants 'infiltrators', 'cancer' and a 'national scourge'.African countries do it regularly, Burma does it with its Rohingya Muslim minority.

If that isn't inciting hatred against illegal immigrants, what is? Resentment against immigrants is one thing, but the government actively promoting hatred against them in a show of nationalistic/ethnic pride is another matter entirely.

The demonstration turned violent with Israelis attacking African passerbys.

It goes back to the first point. There already exists an unfavorable opinion of African migrants in Israel. The government, especially Netanyahu exacerbates this tension with inflammatory words. Was there really any need to fuel the fire instead of just implementing the policies?
