ISLAMABAD: The government has favoured the Jang, Geo group immensely through soft loans worth billions of rupees besides awarding unprecedented advertisement to it.

In his tweets, senior investigative journalist Asad Kharal has revealed that the government granted billions of rupees loans to the media group on the lowest possible mark-up, weak bank guarantees and overpricing of assets through the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). Corroborated by documentary proof, Asad Kharal has proved that loans worth billions of rupees were granted to Independent Media Corporation Limited, Independent Newspapers Corporation Limited and J&S Enterprises Private Limited, owned by Mir Shakeel-ur-Rahman.

According to Asad Khral, the loans were given to companies owned by Mir Shakeel-ur-Rahman, Mir Javed-ur-Rahman and Mir Ibrahim-ur-Rahman by the National Bank of Pakistan on the pressure of the government at the lowest possible mark-up and weak bank guarantees.

It has been learnt that Gulberg Green Islabamabd, a housing scheme of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), also awarded advertisement worth billions of rupees to the Jang and Geo group on the orders of the government. Tehlka TV has obtained documentary evidence of it. It has also obtained a copy of a letter of Bookwood Ventures Limited, an offshore company of Geo News’ Independent Media Corporation, requesting billions of loans from the National Bank of Pakistan. The letter was written on April 22, 2016, 18 days after the onset of the Panama Leaks.

Thanks. But we are not talking about tax related docs. We are talking about business transactions between companies.

No one really cares if they are investigating the family business of Sharifs. But NS is not involved in any of the transactions that they are using to politically slain a elected leader.
