Alright Guys, it is almost ready!

@VEVAK you should have asked for something else in the other thread! Maybe $1,000,000?

By the way, Sayyad 2 seem to be the new standard anti-air missile that is going to be installed on Iranian vessels:

It has maximum attack range of 100km and altitude of 30km.

It is currently installed on Damavand Frigate, replacing Mehrab Missile that was a copy of US SM-1. It will probably be installed on Sahand as well.

Comparing Jamaran and Sahand, there are some significant changes even though, the lower hull seem identical:

Sahand,

It is more and more starting to look like modern Frigates with flat surfaces to reflect the radar beam away. The upper structure is also shorter and higher, giving more space for landing dock and other equipment. The exhaust is smaller and flat which makes it more stealthy and according to media comes with a cooling system that reduces the ship's infrared signature.

It actually doesn't look like construction has progressed much since we last saw it, apart from the addition of the main gun.

A few things to take away from these images though:

Unlike the Jamaran and Damavand frigates, the superstructure is a completely flat, angled side which is good for stealth:

The funnel also has stealth shaping in contrast to the earlier designs, as does the bridge area and windows.

Negatives are:

  • The 76 mm gun doesn't have a stealth-shaped turret/mantle.
  • No evidence of a VLS (not expected, but it is still needed).
  • The radar tower shows no sign of a stealthy superstructure. It looks like it is keeping the old beam style supports.
  • Still using diesel engines instead of gas turbines.

Can you provide a source, brother?

I'm not sure how effective all these measures are? I mean, has any navy had difficulty tracking another navy's vessel since it was stealth? I don't know. But I know it is a super easy job to give the main gun a stealthy look. Why they don't? I have no idea

Hmm... it just says the frigates are armed with Sayyad 2, but this is the only source I have ever seen that claims it is operational (though I know Navy had talked about plans to put it on Jamaran/Damavand before).
It specifically refers to Damavand. Seems like Jamaran has not been upgraded yet.

Yes, you'd think they'd at least give that issue just a bit of work. VLS, gas turbines and a large radar tower superstructure are maybe excusable, though I'd argue even the radar tower could be stealth given that they have gone to relatively extensive measures, basically completely altering the rest of the entire superstructure.

Does Iran posses the technology for Vertical Lauch Systems?

well, im speaking about ship based VLS:

Its virtually the same thing, all that it requires is fitting an exhaust port in the case of a hot launch,if its cold launch you dont even need that. Its easily within irans abilities to build a vls using either hot or cold launch, tho hot would probably be easier.I`m honestly at a loss as to why they didnt bother,it certainly would have greatly upgraded the ships air defences, as it looks like its just going to stick with the obsolete coffin type launchers which hold only a tiny number of missiles, and also would`ve allowed for the carriage of more anti-ship and land attack weapons as well,I also have my doubts as to whether the coffin launchers can accommodate the extra length of the sayyad 2 missile.
Altho its good to see that there has been some redesign of the ships dated superstructure its also somewhat disappointing to see how conservative that redesign has been ie leaving the lattice mast,no vls,no helo hanger, hopefully this ship might at least have a ciws[fingers crossed]

looks very crude :o:

I wouldn't necessarily say "very" crude, but it's no Arleigh Burke class, thats for sure. Sanctions and budget in mind, it's a miracle that Iran can produced these ships to begin with let alone ones that have cruise missile and AA abilities.

the systems are good, but the craftsmanship of the ship looks poor. I understand sanctions and budget, and I'm sure follow up ships will be better, but it's got no chance against other navies in the region.
