A new Iraqi armed group identifying itself as the al-Muhandis’ Revenge Brigade (MRB) announced on May 21 that its fighters had carried out two attacks on U.S. forces.

The group is named after Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the former Deputy-Commander of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU). Al-Muhandis was killed along with Iran’s Quds Force Commander Maj. Gen. Qassim Soleimani in a U.S. strike on the Baghdad International Airport last January.

In its first official statement, the group said its fighters carried out the following attacks:

  • On April 17, MRB fighters targeted a CH-47 Chinook helicopter of the U.S.-led coalition in Baghdad’s southeastern outskirt with two man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADs), likely 9k32 strela-2s.
The attack was apparently a failure, as no hit can be seen in the video. Furthermore, no U.S. helicopter were reportedly shot down near the Iraqi capital on April 17.

  • On May 6, MRB fighters shelled the U.S.-led coalition’s Victory Base Complex in the Baghdad International Airport with four Katyusha rockets. Middle Eastern armed groups usually use the term “Katyusha” to refer to a variety of 107 mm rockets.
The attack was successful, with at least three of the rockets landing in the base. However, no casualties were reported.

The MRB concluded its statement by vowing to force U.S. troops to out of “the land of al-Husayn [Iraq], defeated and disappointed.”

Following the assassination of al-Muhandis and Soleimani, several new Shiite armed groups surfaced in Iraq. One of these groups, Usbat al-Tha’ireen (UT), has claimed responsibility for a rocket attack that killed three U.S.-led coalition service members.

Little is known about these new armed group, which are posing a growing threat to U.S. forces currently deployed in Iraq.

it has begun.... brave Iraqi's along with help from their Iranian allies will kick out every single last American soldier off Iraqi soil, dead or alive.

Supreme leader Khamenei openly said the US will be ejected from both Syria and Iraq.

slow but steady attrition.

you need to realize there is a very real world out there outside western propaganda.

I understand in western propaganda language anyone with them is an "ally"

and anyone with an enemy is called a "proxy" or a host of other similar language with negative connotations

so yes Iran has many allies, including Iraqi allies who see the world the same way as us.

the only difference between an American "ally" and an Iranian "proxy" is abandonement. The us will throw any "ally" into a shark tank in a fraction of a second to advance even the smallest intersests...

while Iranian "proxies" like the Syrian government can thank their existence to the unwavering support of Iran in their most dire hour to save them. at a time when everyone was mocking Iran for wasting time and money on a defeated cause as assad always seemed to be a few "weeks to months" from collapse.

Both have large number of shia believers. During Iraq/Iran war, Iraq forces invading Iran are Iraqi sunni soldiers.
Thanks for the insight....

Its not onlt the west doing propaganda.... though i don't care.
There are no allies but interests only and to achieve common interests you do join with others. Iran, like others, is faithful to its interests only...
Whole gulf is result of Ottoman decline and abolishment of Empire made something named Iraq and including Iraq all of those pieces lack identity and its a matter of time for their fathers to turn them into another Cairo or Baghdad with another flick of finger...

Because pre ottoman history doesn't exist and Baghdad and Egypt have none of their own identity.

I think study before you write

Not true, Sadam forced Shia to fight Iran, there were executioners shooting any conscript that backs from the frontlines, some surrendered to Iran, most ended up as canon fodder.

The name Iraq is older than the ottoman empire.

Who talked about pre*-Ottoman??

You claim they lack identity... when in fact they have more identity than anyone surrounding them. If Iraq, Sham (Levant) and Arabia lack identity than what is Pakistan?

As for Turkey they adopted a lot of the middle east, most Turkish culture is derived from Islamic and Arab culture. The westernization of Turkey is fairly recent and happened under Ataturk, before that they were even closer to Islamic/Arabic culture.

As a piece of land as they are now, no identity...
The time you're talking about was washed up by halaku khan and that identity vanished with the heads from bodies of people of baghdad.
