In India the price of Maruti Suzuki Celerio starts from just INR 4.2 lac which converts into PKR 6.67 lac. The most expensive top of the line Celerio ZXi AMT cost INR 5.43 lac which is equal to just PKR 8.63 lac. Pak Suzuki has priced the new Cultus VXR at PKR 12.5 lac while the VXL is available for PKR 13.91 lac which is outrageous pricing.

Who will buy cultus in this price..and that too 1000cc

Air Travel and Automobiles are way too expensive in Pakistan owing to outdated tariff policies. That being said however, car ownership in Pakistan, even at existing rates is unreasonably high so there is no incentive for the government to revise tariffs and for automakers to demand change.

Economies of scale and bulk orders. We produce and sell a lot more cars so it's only normal for the individual price of each car to be less.

Time has come for Pakistan, either provide huge benefits for foreign companies to make in Pakistan,or just allow free imports like BD does for 2nd hand Japanese cars

Cars are outdated. Confortable public transport coupled with app services is the way to go.
We leave cars in our house and use ola and uber extensively. Rs 49 for 8 kms. Sweet.

That is OK for Travelling within Cities

But when you have to go Long distance you need Big SUVs
Like Mahindra Scorpio ;my favourite :-)

A friend works for the Suzuki company, a day after launch, 50 cars were already booked in Lahore only.
That is why it is over-priced ...Why not to go for Swift with 1300cc and almost same price..I think this will be a failure like Ciaz...May be i am wrong

.
12 Lakhs for a Celerio :o::o: Then how much does a SUV cost in Pakistan, say a Ford Endeavour?

There are no free car imports in Bangladesh. Up to 300% tax even on refurbished car. :(

We don't have Ford here in Pakistan..People can import but no assembly plant

I checked and believe that Toyota Fortuner costs 50 Lakhs and above in Pakistan. It's probably due to Pakistani rupee and high taxation, so what Pakistan auto industry needs is high level of localization and less tax by government. Here in India most of cars now have 80% localisation (some even 98%) and for sub 4 meter cars (hatch-backs) taxes are less
