The Dutch parliament has voted to ban arms exports to Saudi Arabia in protest against the kingdom's humanitarian and rights violations.

It sees the Netherlands become the first EU country to put in practice a motion by the European Parliament in February urging a bloc-wide Saudi arms embargo.
The bill, voted through by Dutch MPs on Tuesday, quoted UN figures which suggest almost 6,000 people - half of them civilians - have been killed since Saudi-led troops entered the conflict in Yemen.
It also cited the mass execution of 47 people, largely political dissidents, ordered by the Saudi judiciary on 2 January this year.

According to Reuters, the Dutch bill asks the government to implement a strict weapons embargo that includes dual-use exports which could potentially be used to violate human rights.
The vote adds to the growing pressure on Britain, one of the main arms suppliers to Riyadh, to reconsider its stance.
Andrew Smith, a spokesman for Campaign Against Arms Trade, told The Independent: "The Dutch parliament has set an important precedent and it's time for other arms dealing governments to do the same. The decision can't just be temporary though, it must be permanent.

"Saudi Arabia has a terrible human rights record and governments like the UK must stop supporting it. The bombardment of Yemen has lasted almost a year now and the humanitarian situation is desperate."
According to updated Campaign Against Arms Trade figures, the UK has now sold more than £6.7 billion worth of weapons to the Saudi government under David Cameron - £2.8 billion in deals since the bombing in Yemen began.
France is the other major European supplier of arms to the Saudi kingdom. Germany's exports amounted to almost £140 million in the first six months of 2015, while figures for the Netherlands itself were not available.

@mike2000 is back @Taygibay @Blue Marlin

I doubt France and UK would ban weapon exports to Saudi Arabia as they are to our nations one of our major clients and thus losing billions of €/£ and most probably thousands of jobs could be threatened.
indeed we can continue to milk them for more money... but shhhh dont tell them that!

Who cares about human right bullshits in other countries?
it's none of our business how other countries treat their own people, we should focus only on our own people human rights and freedom, and let foreign countries citizens decide themselves how they want to be treated by their leaders, we have no business in it. Business is business, politics is politics. When we intervene to get rid of any dictatorial regime in the region, these same people who criticize the west for not doing enough, will be the first one to start criticizing us about being imperialistic and interfering in 'holy muslim countries' land. lol :astagh:

We should sometimes act like Russia who doesn't give a shit about human rights in other country's internal affairs, and just sell them any weapons these countries can afford, no questions asked. On this aspect i completely in favour of Moscow's policies. For example we all know Iran human rights record is similar to the Saudi Monarchy, yet we never see Russia pr China citing that as a concern for not selling them weapons/arms. So why should we act any different?
Afterall, whether we sell them arms or not won't change anything in these countries. So what's the point?

Stay out of it, less the people start blaming western infidels trying to destabilize and interfere in Muslim countries internal affairs. So let's stick to business.:pop:

First product that comes to mind is the Goalkeeper CWIS but they also maintained expertise
beyond naval in collaborations for aviation maintenance, high tech and space applications.

Good day, Tay.

They don't have much of a presence in the global market though do they?

That is the funny side, they are good but they are not in the global market. Why not don't now, they had share holding in the 70's with Kraus wegmann. They have designed with the germans leopard tank 1, and later they didn't do nothing with it, i have no cleu about the current situation.

They have lack on vision.

Not really the first.
There are lots of restrictions on selling weapons to KSA here.
Stuff that can be used to repress the citizens are generally not OK.
Other things, which primarily can be used for defense, like EriEye is OK.
