Israel only bought tires of "the car" and snatched the rest of it.
And legally so, until there is a peace agreement.
Furthermore, the fact that a state is created claiming borders does not in itself constitute theft of land.
The owner of a specific piece of land does not lose ownership of that piece of land.
The only thing that is changed is citizenship.
The main cause of the conflict is that immigrants used funds collected by Jews worldwide
to purchase land from large Arab landowners, resulting in eviction of a lot of poor Arab families,
which previously leased the land. Rough deal on these, but fully legal.
If You like many Arabs (no such thing as an ethnic Palestinian) left the area by own free will,
there is very little in International Law that protects You and Your (former) property.
How many of the Arabs leaving the state of Israel has payed property tax, since 1948.
In any country, If You don't pay your tax, the government is going to confiscate what they can get hold of, fully legally.
Jews leaving Arab countries in the same manner have very little opportunity to move back,
or get compensation.
In the West Bank there are peculiar laws created by the Ottomans allowing the State
to reclaim "dead land". These laws, created to allow confiscation of land for non-Muslims,
is now coming back to bite Muslims.
So "snatching" may be fully legal.
