DHAKA: Nepal on Wednesday intended to continue taking army training from Bangladeshi military institutes as international standard being maintained here.
Visiting Chief of Army of Nepal General Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana voiced the intention in a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office in city.
A K M Shamim Chowdhury, press secretary to the premier, was talking to the journalists after the meeting.
He said army chief of Nepal conveyed the greetings of the President and Prime Minister of his country to PM Sheikh Hasina.
“They also talked about issues of two countries armed forces and on making the staffs more powerful,” he added.
General Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana mentioned that 215 Nepalese army personnel took training from National Defense College (NDC) and Defence Services Command and Staff College of Bangladesh, he added.
General Gaurav also proposed about a joint endeavor of the two countries armed forces in Mount Everest.
He also highly praised the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Shamim Chowdhury said the premier recalled the assistances of Nepalese army during the Liberation War in 1971.
Concerned high-ups of two countries also were present in the meeting.
