To all, we going from one extreme to the other extrem.

We mostly and most of the time have defended army during anti terror operation and their manipulation during past 30-35 years in particular.

Whole army should not be blamesd and we should not use bad words against Army.

Criticise establishment but not the whole army and plz avoid using indecent words against army.

There is always a Army in a country, either yours or another country's.

Then again after few years we will be singing songs for army.

We should harshly criticise current establishment.

Army should be criticised for enjoying over privileges.

In the words of a retired Brigadier living in Naperville, IL, and whom I've known for close to a decade his words were, "the damage has been done." The military will not be held in the same status it enjoyed before.

In 2021, Pakistan's military expenditure accounted for 3.8% of GDP. No country in the world can develop its economy under such high military spending. Pakistan can learn from Iran and develop missiles and drones to protect the country and save military spending; it can also learn from Ukraine to improve the informationization of the army and develop drones, artillery and anti-tank missiles to save military spending. When military spending fell to 2% of GDP, China's economy began to grow.

So Pakistan needs to double the size of the economy’s because the military danger isn’t going away. China was basically in a period of peace for most of the last 60 years. Pakistan has a neighbor looking to invade it any day now, if it gets the chance or senses an opening.

Pakistan needs a plan to raise taxes in a way that incentivizes productive development and limits unproductive consumption, as well as makes the reforms to attract FDI, all in hopes of at least doubling the economy in the next 5-10 years, and maintain the defense spending at its current the level.

We are in a constant state of war with the neighbor to the East, and us being dragged into a western conflict every decade doesn't help either.
Often I think we're cursed with two things, our neighbor [India] and the geography sandwiched between Asia and the Middle East.

Pakistan is a country with nuclear weapons. China began to cut military spending in 1980, when it was threatened by the Soviet Union. Iran faces as much threat as Pakistan. Ukraine also faces threats from Russia. They don't have nuclear weapon。
If China's military spending accounts for GDP3%, it will not be able to develop its economy. Now the economic level is the same as that of Pakistan.Per capita gdp

Pakistan also can’t afford to layoff so many soldiers, and pull back its modernization efforts. It’s far easier to raise property taxes and cut subsidies to unproductive industries and open the market to investors on a level playing field then to cut military spending.

With the right kind of reforms and public trust, overseas Pakistan would’ve willing to reinvest into the country like they were doing under the PTI government, recording 2 years of 6% year on year growth during the pandemic.

Considering how mismanaged and inefficient the economy is, the right reform could lead to double digit growth and a doubling of the economy in 5-7 years, and laying the foundation to have security and an prosperous economy.

I feel none of the neighbors want to get involved in the affairs of Pakistan. International commentariat has been very muted in its response to the melodrama since August 2021.
silent voice is more dangerous than loud voice ..

Would you please find a country whose military expenditure accounts for more than gdp3% and can still develop its economy?
Military spending is so high that it is unlikely to last long. The Pakistani army must be reformed. The people can no longer stand it and yearn for economic development.

your are obviously trying to start a heated debate, no one here is against the army! this is an defence website for fuks sake! When we bash the army, we are bashing the decision makers and people with power who have exposed themselves in the past 7 months. no longer can the establishment enjoy the blind faith they have been shown the past 70 years

The whole qoum needs to repent for the excesses of war of terror, we collectively backed these p0rn producing colonial sepoys when they were clearly in the wrong bombing our own citizens back to stone age to be in the good books of their mai baap Amreeka bahadur...

If we hadn't given them the cover to sell our own citizens to Amreeka, bomb FATA and provide bases/air corridor for drones to rain down terror, maybe now we'd be in a better position now. But since the dumb pathans were in the firing line, rest of the country didn't give a $h!t.
