Need an energy boost during iftar? These snacks can help!

Have you seen temperature in Karachi?
Have you see temprature in central Canada? You can fry food on the roads.
We also lack a thing called the ozone layer, something Karachi has

Eating is not an issue but staying hydrated is an issue especially in the summer. I have had fast in Scotland a few years back it was 2am to 10pm.
Scotland's temp is moderate compared to central Canada

Which place in canada?
In calagry aftar is at 9 30 and sehri is at 4 02 today.
Prairies

I fasted on an empty stomach a few times and literally nothing changes. People need to stop the bs. You wont die in a day, especially those in Pakistan. Your time periods are peanuts compared to the people fasting in Canada. I open my fast at 9:30pm and start from 3am
Pakistani people think Ramdhan is all about eating non stop from iftaar to sehri. I have seen some people who overeat because they think will never get chance to eat during the day and some even take 3/4 glass of water in one go just few mintute before sehri . My grand mother is almost 100 and she hardly eat anything but still keeping fast in every Ramdhan because she think that she may not see month of Ramdhan next year.. Ramdhan is all about controlling your nfs

People dont realize that you will last without water for about a month and without water for, roughly a week.

Bro I was in Alaska for a summer and the sun did not go down until well after 10pm. I was too young to fast at that time lucky for me. It was a surreal experience though.

In places up north where the sun doesnt come up or go down for days, there is set time frame. Where you get fast for that time, disregarding the sun. But that's northern then Alaska tho

Those people who have habit of eating irregular all day and night struggle in Ramdhan because they cannot manage discipline in eating ..eating twice a day is healthy ..yes if someone is doing physical work in really hot summer then they might feel more thirst but its still manageable for some hours ..feeling thirst and hunger don't mean you are going to die because of it

any way my iftaar tiem is approaching now so break time :D

The beef koftas look tempting, would blend wonderfully in a salan. Those fasting mustn't visit this thread during off hours.:p:

Ya, I've learned the hard way that eating "ickha dohka" makes you gain weight really fast. It's not good at all

Another problem is dehydration, so I want to know how people take care of it after iftar?

The key is to drink slowly and replenish 3 ingredients that make up a good rehydrating agent... liquid + Salt + sugar. Amongst the available options Lemonade, Lemonade + Rooh afza, Falsa juice, Salt lassi, Dates smoothy, Tang juice etc fit the bill.

One more thing that helps is having fruit chat... not fruit or channa chat... desi style fruit chat as it contains a mix of fruits garnished with orange juice / yougart +/- dates +/- Almonds. The fruit contain sugar, salt, vitamins, minerals and the water content of fruits + the juice / yougart also helps. My biggest issue when living alone was making fruit chat for only myself as i thought it looked stupid to work as i was alone or it didn't feel like worth it and when i did make some, i always ended up with at least 2 plate full. What helped me was eating fruit chat in 2 episodes i.e. at aftar and after taraveh with plain water and tea during the 1 or 2 hrs in between. Its been a few years and i have stuck to that routine even now.

Another key point is to not eat the stuff that makes u thirsty @ sehri or at aftar. Rice, cheese, pasta and related food should be avoided for a month at best but definitely avoided at sehri.

Yeah i absolutely agree with @Proudpakistaniguy that eating twice a day is the best routine for us voracious meat eaters. Less carbs and more protein, longer interval between meals and an hour of hard exercise daily, fcuk cholesterol i say.:-)

Good, I always wondered what benefit people get here in BD by eating the must have oil soaked pakora type items. Those dont look healthy. That must give instant energy boost.

Ok ok easy :p .. just cause you are capable of fasting that long with patience and ease doesnt mean all are blessed with that much capability .
Some people are truly sensitive and we have to understand their situation instead of bashing them . There is a reason why many people die in ramzan these previous years in karachi .. so keep an easy hand lol . To each their own. Some people deserve care in ramzan .

Not bashing anyone, I'm criticizing the pressure put by society to make people fast. Let the nay sayers show themselves

Here in France it's around 18 hours of fasting. ( if and only if you wake up for suhur...which I don't, therefore in my case making it almost 21ish Hours of fasting...)
And No ''Special Ramadan Working Hours....''
let alone the endless Q...''Why don't you eat'' said by the same people every year...

Common my friend, lets accept the fact that in Canada I can fast two days in row without eating and drinking anything and it wont be as bad as one Roza in Karachi. Those temp you mentioned in Canada are only for scaring people, the reality is we sit at home in A/C, goto car in A/C, maybe walk 50 steps in the real temp to goto office or shopping mall. Yesterday i opened my Iftar and only took one sip of my rooh Afza and forgot to drink the rest.
