A document detailing tax payments by Sharif, submitted by him to the National Assembly, showed the wealth tax column as blank from 2009 to 2016.

Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif paid Rs.9.77 million in wealth tax from 1993 to the end of his "forced exile" in November 2007, but has not paid any wealth tax over the past seven years.

A document detailing tax payments by Sharif, submitted by him to the National Assembly, showed the wealth tax column as blank from 2009 to 2016. It also did not mention the taxes paid in the fiscal year 2008-2009, Dawn online reported.

The statement showed Rs.2.49 million was paid as income tax during the current fiscal year, but the column for agricultural tax was blank.

Another document showed that 12 industrial units owned by the Sharif group paid Rs.9.87 billion in taxes between October 1993 and April 2016.

Wealth tax was repealed since 2003
Repeal of Act XV of 1963.- The Wealth Tax Act, 1963 (XV of 1963), is hereby: repealed and the repeal shall not --

(a) affect the liability of any individual, Hindu undivided family, firm, association of persons or body of individuals, whether incorporated or not, and company to pay wealth tax, additional tax, penalty, surcharge, fee, charge and any other sum chargeable, leviable and payable under the said Act, in respect of an assessment year ending on or before the thirtieth day of June, 2001; and

(b) affect any investigation, legal proceedings or remedy in respect of any right, obligation or liability and any such investigation, legal proceedings or remedy may be instituted, continued and enforced and penalty or punishment may be imposed as if the said Act had not been repealed and for removal of doubts it is hereby declared that the provisions of the Act regarding appointment and jurisdiction of Wealth-tax authorities shall, notwithstanding repeal, shall remain in force.

Government wanted to reintroduce in 2011 but was shelved due to protest from business community.
Now filers are required to file a wealth statement but not paying any wealth tax.
Thats what happens when someone reports based on paper without any understanding.

He said that the Wealth Tax Act was abolished on demand of a former finance minister, which was a great disservice to the nation that resulted in a privileged few to amass wealth while pushing millions below the line of poverty. Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Rafique said that majority of businessmen show that their enterprises are in loss to avoid taxes while claiming income from exempted sectors.
