Nazi insane weaponry

The Nazi Party controlled Germany during a crisis and, in the end, committed countless atrocities against man. They were, basically, an evil regime. We all know that.

But what most people DON'T know about the Nazis is that they dreamt up some pretty insane weaponry. Thank God they were stopped and never had a chance to flesh out these ideas...

1.) Zeppelin Rammer

This plane was supposed to be towed by another plane. It would be set free whenever the pair approached an Allied plane. The Zeppelin Rammer would then fly toward the enemy plane, firing rockets at it and finally crash into it using its reinforced wings.

2.) Heinkel He 162

This plane was designed to be very easily mass produced and easy to fly. The Nazis were suffering heavy pilot casualties and they needed planes that were so easy to fly even novices could learn quickly. These planes turned out to be extremely complicated to fly though and during test flights the wings would catch on fire.

3.) Fliegerfaust

This rocket launcher was meant to be fired at planes that flew overhead. The main reason it failed was that it had a very short range, so it could only hit planes that were SUPER close to the ground, so very few were produced.

4.) Junkers Ju 322 Mammut

This wooden plane was designed to be a replacement for cargo carrying ships. The flight of the plane was incredibly unstable and it proved to be less useful as the tank it was carrying fell through the bottom of the plane. Since the plane was made of wood, it was chopped up and used as fuel.

5.) Rocket U-Boat

5.png

This was essentially a submarine with rockets strapped to it. Because of the lack of technology, the rockets were extremely hard to guide underwater.

6.) Taifun

This rocket was meant to finally put an end to the onslaught of allied bombers that were devastating the German forces. They were unguided missles that would be fired at the planes. They were relatively cheap and easy to make, plus they were practical since the Allied bombers were large and made for easy targets.

7.) Panzer VIII Maus

7.png

This tank is the heaviest tank ever built. It was so heavy that bridges would collapse under it, thus making it pretty useless.

8.) Krummlauf

Guns that can fire around corners? Seems pretty genius. They were fitted with mirrors as well so that soldiers could see what was coming around said corner.

9.) Fieseler Fi 103R

This kamikaze plane was to be flown by German pilots. It carried a rocket so that it would cause serious damage to the target. Pilots would acquire a target and they were supposed to eject to avoid death. The problem was that the ejection was so violent that many pilots died during the test flights.

10.) The Sun Gun

This wasn't necessarily a "gun" per se, but actually a mirror. This mirror would be sent into orbit and strategically aimed to bounce the sun's rays into the ocean to boil the water and in turn destroy cities.

Thankfully, the Nazis were stopped before many of these weapons were ever perfected. If they actually managed to create a giant mirror to attack different cities around the globe? They would have successfully become super villains.

Perhaps Germans were the one who successfully used most modern technology in battle field.V2 was a best example.
Operation paperclip of US and USSR cause the seeding of Coldwar at that time.B2 spirit uses a flying wing aerostructure. It was the Germans who first created its prototype.
If Germans won WW2 war the world history would have been entire different.

Talk about being delusional. Even when Germany was crying out for fuel late 44, underground factories were busy building hundreds of Vergeltunswaffen...V1, V2 and so on. On the other hand the Russians focussed on a few but tested platforms and mass produced them.

@SarthakGanguly @scorpionx - Not to sound gender biased but I find it embarrassing that a lady - @levina - knows more about guns & the Third Reich than I do ! :ashamed:
Umm, no offence but she fought on the Narva front with the Estonian Freiwilligen and later in Kurland. Even after the war, she took up a fake name and see her love for ....the Fuhrer. :bad:

They should've produced more Tigers !

Could not view the image..
I found a video of gustav 800mm

In the image is it Hitler with Albert Speer on the right(Todt org armband) and Bormann(short and stocky) on the left?

Lots of them. More mass mobilization. Greater number of fighters. Total war was declared in the beginning of 1943(Goebbel's speech of Totalenkrieg) but implemented in the middle of 1944. :D

Germany lost the war from 42 to middle of 44. Not Stalingrad, not Kursk either. A defeat or stalemate can't be considered the end. In a war you can't avoid setbacks. The Jerries just refused to put everything until it was too late. Then there was infighting, multiple overlapping ministeries, sabotage, diversion of resources to the Holocaust etc etc. It was sealed fully by the Operation Bagration in June, 44.

There were practical reasons why Third reich choose V2 Rockets over Tiger or Panther Tanks.

For the same amount of money that Fuhrer spent on building V2's he could have got 90,000 Tiger Tanks. But Germany's problem ( after defeat at Stalingrad forced Wehrmacht to withdraw from caucus' s oilfields) was that there was simple not enough fuel to run even existing Tanks, let alone thousands of new Tanks. V2 rockets consumed Ethanol, not Gasoline, which could be easily procured by fermenting beet root crop from continental Europe.

Firing V2's was the reason why Hitler insisted on holding Pae-d-Calaise till it became impossible to hold it.

Yes sure...

I loved this video, the count down starts with heliobeam then switches to V2 and then the dirty nuclear bomb. Imagine if Germans had come up with their atomic bomb before US then Newyork (it was their target) would have been present day Hiroshima.

I know more about cars too ...not so long ago @JonAsad and @Cherokee suspected me to be a man :P because I could spot Vcheng's porche(it was a Chevy which looked like a Porsche Boxster).

Russians were always lucky when GEN.Winter arrived on time.
Gen.Winter spoiled Nazi plans and this year Gen.Winter might wreak havoc on Europe when Putin will shut down the gas lines...or so I heard.

I like my new name Levina de witte the cat owner. <3

I luvd V2 which was first of its kind...the first long range ballistic missile, it achieved sub orbital speed and fell at its target at a speed thrice the speed of sound.

Beetroot?
Or Was it potatoes?? The video posted above says V2 needed 30 tons of potatoes.

Same difference.

Fuel for V2's could be grown in German fields while Armored divisions depended only on stockpile ( SInce continental Europe does not have any oilfield).
