They eliminated ghost employees in KPK.

Biometric tracking with better oversight of people.

I had suggested long back about weekly performance checks for government employees. Each employee to send weekly performance checks (milestones) to his supervisor and these weekly checks will determine yearly performance review. Anyone who is not performing should be given a pink slip.

Blasphemous cartoon contest issue resolved due to efforts of Pakistan: Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday said that due to the effective diplomatic efforts of Pakistan government, the blasphemous cartoon contest issue has been resolved.

Dutch anti-Islam lawmaker Geert Wilders said he has canceled a planned contest following threats and concerns other people could be put at risk.

The planned contest sparked angry protests in Pakistan as physical depictions of the prophet are forbidden in Islam and deeply offensive to Muslims.

By the grace of Allah Almighty, the blasphemous cartoon contest issue has been resolved due to effective diplomatic efforts of the Federal Government. We must all work together to deny extremists on all sides the space and opportunity to spread hatred, the foreign minister tweeted.

Earlier, the federal ministers met the leadership of Tehreek-e-Labaik and apprised them of the development.

Flanked by the Minister of State for Interior, Qureshi addressed a press conference along with the TLP leader Pir Afzal Qadri late Thursday night.

The TLP leadership later announced end of the long March, of thousands of people that had entered Rawalpindi late Thursday night, from Lahore.

Qureshi said the new government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf immediately after coming into power raised the issue internationally at all foras. He said the Parliament unanimously passed a resolution condemning the plans to hold the blasphemous caricature contest. He said the minority members were at the forefront in condemning this heinous act.

He said he discussed the matter with his counterparts from important Capitals and it was agreed to use the platform of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation OIC to present a unanimous stance and seek an end to repeat of such sacrilegious acts.

The Foreign Minister also recalled his phone call to the Dutch Foreign Minister and said he was informed that an act of an individual should not be allowed to hurt the sentiments of billions of Muslims across the globe.

However he attributed the success to the blessings of Allah and said the cancellation has averted a major crisis. He said the Pakistani government fully endorses the sentiments of every Muslim, the religious scholars and Ulema.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan in a video message assured that his government would use the OIC platform to raise the issue at the United Nations and seek a permanent solution to such acts that hurt the sentiments of the Muslims.

PM Imran waters first plant of 10 billion trees project

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched “Plant for Pakistan”, an afforestation drive in the country, by planting a sapling in Haripur district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Sunday.

K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan received the PM and accompanied him to Haripur during the launching of the campaign.
Talking to media at the occasion, the prime minister said that their target is to plant 10 billion trees in five years of their tenure to make the country green.

He said the aim is to beat the threat of global warming and climate change. “Pakistan is seventh on the list of those countries which will be affected by global warming… this is a war for the survival of our future generations,” he said while talking about the aim of the trees plantation drive.

Initially started at 200 points in the cities, PM Imran said that the campaign will be carried out in all cities across the country.
“This is the beginning. Our target is to plant 10 billion trees in the whole country and this campaign will continue for 5 years. We had planted 1.18 billion trees in K-P and now we are starting plantation in the rest of the country,” he said.

In their countrywide mission the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government will plant trees on government lands and by the roadsides wherever they find space for plantation in addition to planting trees in the forests.

“To increase the importance of plantation and cleanliness among children from the beginning we are including this subject in schools,” PM Imran said.

‘Plant for Pakistan’ campaign kicks off across the country

No one was concerned about the deforestation, Imran observed.

Forests were destroyed in Punjab and K-P and before PTI government timbers worth of Rs200 billion were chopped off illegally, he added.

He said that PTI government in K-P had planted 1.18 billion trees in last five years of their tenure and now they have the target of 10 billion across the country.

Imran urged that it is not only the responsibility of government or of an individual but it is the responsibility of every citizen to take part in the campaign and contribute to make this country green otherwise the land would convert into desert owing to melting glaciers.

Meanwhile the district administration of Peshawar along with other government departments planted 231,000 saplings in the provincial capital of K-P under “Green Peshawar” campaign.
Schools students along with 1,500 scouts and government officials also took part.
The Rescue 1122, Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Frontier College for Women, University of Peshawar, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and various schools across the city planted saplings to participate in the campaign.
School students despite their holiday came to schools to add their part in the plantation drive.
