Nawaz urged to nominate AQ Khan as president
May 27, 2013 Ghulam Mursalin 8
LAKKI MARWAT - Leader of Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Pakistan (TTP) Dr Muhammad Ayyub Khan has urged the PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif to nominate renowned nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for the office of President of Pakistan.
Talking to journalists here on Sunday, he said that Dr Qadeer Khan made Pakistan the first Islamic atomic power and enabled Nawaz Sharif to take credit of it.
He said that Pakistan's nuclear status earned popularity for Nawaz Sharif led Pakistan Muslim League in country's politics. "Besides making the country atomic power was the main theme of PML-N recent electioneering campaign," he maintained. He said that PML-N chief should not hesitate to announce that Dr Qadeer would be the next president of the country.
Fazl addresses graduates: Jamiat Ulema-I-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called upon the newly graduated clerics to spare themselves for spreading the true message of Islam in the entire world.
"After being graduated at the completion of education you (clerics) should now accept heavy responsibilities to convey the religion to all the human beings," he said while speaking at dastarbandi (turban fastening) ceremony at Jamia Halimia in Darra Pezu town on Saturday night.
Other speakers included administrator of the seminary Mufti Abdul Ghani, Maulana Muhammad Anwar and Dr Sher Ali Shah and Maulana Anwarul Haq of Darul Uloom Akora Khattak.
Fazl said that America and Western Powers left no stone unturned to defame seminaries and harm Islam through a nefarious and baseless propaganda. "But religious scholars and students of religious institutions stood firm against all such conspiracies and foiled them successfully," he maintained.
He said that the country was founded in the name of Islam and any move to put it on the path of secularism would be resisted at all cost.
He said that Ulema were fully conscious and they would offer tough resistance to the implementation of US and Jewish agenda in the country.
He said that religious seminaries being the castles of Islam imparted education to the students and promote religious harmony, peace, brotherhood and tolerance.
Fraud in funds for building:
Riaz Mayar adds from Mardan: A huge share of government funds provided by the former chief minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti for the construction of community centres in various areas of Mardan has allegedly been misused.
Sources said that the former chief minister, who belonged to Mardan, approved huge funds for the construction of community centres in his provincial constituency PK-23 Mardan-1 and some other areas of the district had allegedly been misused. They said that several people misused the funds and constructed community centres for their own interests.
They said that some people constructed the community centres on occupied lands and through fake papers made agreement with the district government to build these centres.
They said that some people constructed their own houses through funds approved for the construction of community centres. Sources said that some people rented these community centres to other people while some people even did not use the funds.
In this connection when The Nation asked the Deputy Commissioner Mardan during his visit to press club, he conformed it and said that he had stopped funds for community centres. He said that he ordered the Tehsil Municipal Officers (TMOs) to conduct inquiry and if any one was found guilty, strict action would be taken against him without any discrimination.
